Jordan Peele To Write and Direct Horror Film GET OUT For Blumhouse

Key & Peele just ended and I miss it already, but thankfully the talented Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele are already busy with upcoming projects. The duo is reuniting to work on a stolen kitten film called Keanu, and now The Wrap reports that Peele is branching off to write and direct a new horror film called Get Out for Blumhouse Productions.

The project will explore race as it "follows a young African-American man who visits his Caucasian girlfriend's family estate." Peele had this to say:

“People know me for my work in comedy, but now I’ll get to focus on my passion for writing and directing horror films. Like comedy, horror has an ability to provoke thought and further the conversation on real social issues in a very powerful way. ‘Get Out’ takes on the task of exploring race in America, something that hasn’t really been done within the genre since ‘Night of the Living Dead’ 47 years ago. It’s long overdue.”

Young black men are rare as protagonists in horror films, so it'll be nice to see Peele upend one of the genre's tropes, make us think a little bit, and hopefully bring some memorable scares to the screen at the same time.

Ten Bloopers That Made It Into A Film's Final Cut

One of my favorite parts about the special features that are included on DVDs and Blu-rays for films are the blooper reels. One thing that you might not be aware of is that some of these bloopers sometimes actually make it into the final cut of the film. ScreenRant released a great video list that points out ten bloopers or mistakes that actually did make it into the final cut of the movie. Some of the films included in the list include Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Lord of the RingsZoolander, Knocked Up, and Back To The Future

Even the most intense and dramatic movies can’t keep actors from goofing around, which means plenty of blooper reels and blown takes for fans to enjoy during the credits, or as a bonus on home video. But sometimes, a spur-of-the-moment decision, mistake, or even injury can be too good to cut. Make sure you comment below as you watch! We want to know what you guys think! Here are ScreenRant’s 10 Movie Bloopers That Made It To The Final Cut.

After you watch the video, let us know of you remember of any other bloopers that made it into the final cut of a movie.

"Earth doesn't have just one hero anymore."

We've got a new promo trailer for you to check out for CBS' Supergirl series, and it offers us some action-packed new footage. We still have a little over a month to go before the series premiere, but it seems like more and more people are warming up to it the closer we get to its release on October 26th. My little girls are already planning a screening party. I'm sure they're gonna love it. I just hope I'll be able to enjoy it with them!

We recently shared our first official photo of the Red Tornado in the series, which you can check out here. You can watch the new trailer below!

SUPERGIRL is an action-adventure drama based on the DC Comics character Kara Zor-El (Melissa Benoist), Superman’s (Kal-El) cousin who, after 12 years of keeping her powers a secret on Earth, decides to finally embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be. Twelve-year-old Kara escaped the doomed planet Krypton with her parents’ help at the same time as the infant Kal-El. Protected and raised on Earth by her foster family, the Danvers, Kara grew up in the shadow of her foster sister, Alex (Chyler Leigh), and learned to conceal the phenomenal powers she shares with her famous cousin in order to keep her identity a secret.
Years later at 24, Kara lives in National City assisting media mogul and fierce taskmaster Cat Grant (Golden Globe Award winner Calista Flockhart), who just hired the Daily Planet’s former photographer, James Olsen (Mehcad Brooks), as her new art director. However, Kara’s days of keeping her talents a secret are over when Hank Henshaw (David Harewood), head of a super-secret agency where her sister also works, enlists her to help them protect the citizens of National City from sinister threats. Though Kara will need to find a way to manage her newfound empowerment with her very human relationships, her heart soars as she takes to the skies as Supergirl to fight crime.

Ten Incredibly Hard To Shoot Movie Scenes

There are some scenes in movies that I find myself in awe over because of how crazy those shots are. ScreenRant has compiled a list of ten incredibly hard to shoot movie scenes from films that include Inception, Spider-Man, Iron Man, Saving Private Ryan, The Lord of the Rings, Apollo 13, Kill Bill, and The Abyss

Hollywood blockbusters only succeed by raising the pace, scale or budget of the on-screen action. These days it's safe to assume that the craziest stunts and sequences are made possible with plenty of green creen or CG artistry. But when a director and crew are committed to realism, or there's simply no way to fake a shot, there's no limit they'll go to until the job is done. Here are Screen Rant's 10 Incredibly Hard to Shoot Movie Scenes.

Is Hayden Christensen Reprising His Darth Vader Role in STAR WARS: EPISODE VIII?

$

We've already heard a rumor that Darth Vader might appear in Gareth Edwards' Star Wars: Rogue One. We now have another rumor that suggests that he'll make an appearance in Rian Johnson's Star Wars: Episode VIII

The following information comes from Making Star Wars, and none of this has been officially confirmed so it could all be complete BS. But they have been right about a few other things about what is happening in the Star Wars movies, so we'll just have to wait and see how it pans out.

In regards to Vader's appearance in Rogue One, they reveal some additional information that could confirm that he'll be in the movie. They say:

"The most I have heard at this juncture is that a fully operational Darth Vader chest piece along with  the helmet made it to the creature shop for the next film. The lights on the chest piece work and everything. Here’s where I get hesitant about it: There were not several of them, just one seen by a source and mentioned by another. I believe that part of the info is correct that a suit made it to the props area. Does that mean it is in the film? Not entirely."

They then go on to talk about Star Wars: Episode VIII, and they say that Hayden Christensen might be reprising his role as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader. Their source told them:

A team in the U.K. are soon heading to the U.S. to begin training Hayden Christensen for a Star Wars: Episode VIII appearance of some sort.

I find this rumor extremely hard to believe. The only way it really makes sense to me is if he comes back as a force ghost. The site goes on to speculate that the rumor "almost points towards some resurrection of Darth Vader story idea or perhaps a flashback?" Resurrection of Darth Vader?! Is that what Kylo Ren and The First Order could be up to? That's definitely an interesting theory!

Star Wars: Episode VIII is currently shooting, so if this information is true or not, we should know soon enough. I'll be honest, I never care to see Christensen in another Star Wars movie again. What do you think about these latest rumors?

Princess Leia’s RETURN OF THE JEDI Slave Outfit Is Going to Auction

The original iconic metal bikini that Carrie Fisher wore as Princess Leia wore in Return of the Jedi is headed for auction. So if you’re a rich Star Wars fan, this thing could be yours!

It is one of fifty Star Wars lots that are set to go up for sale at the upcoming action, which is being hosted by Profiles in History. According to The Rolling Stone:

"The costume, designed by Richard Miller, is expected to fetch between $80,000 to $120,000, and is billed as part of "the most important and complete compilation of original Star Wars pieces to have survived production in private hands." The wares included in the lot were used on set, though the costume seen in the movie was a resized version made to account for actress Carrie Fisher's weight loss while shooting."

The lot will also include some alternate iterations of the costume that director George Lucas didn’t end up using in the film. There are also “several design and paint studies, and a letter of authentication signed by Miller.” During an interview with Rolling Stone in 1983, Miller talked about coming up with the design of this costume:

"The only way they knew to make the character strong was to make her angry. In Return of the Jedi, she gets to be more feminine, more supportive, more affectionate. But let's not forget that these movies are basically boys' fantasies. So the other way they made her more female in this one was to have her take off her clothes."

It’s really interesting to see what their perspective was back then when coming up for the design of the outfit. Other Star Wars pieces going up for auction include the “original posters, script pages and cameras used to film the movies. Other props featured include a prototype Darth Vader helmet ($30,000 to $50,000), a Rebel Fleet trooper tunic ($25,000 to $35,000) and helmet ($150,000 to $250,000) featured in the film and the original miniature Rebel Blockade Runner — the first space craft seen in the series — which is expected to garner between $200,000 and $300,000.”

It’s times like these I wish I had a ridiculous amount of money to blow on Star Wars stuff. At least I have a little extra to buy some toys!

Zack Snyder Says BATMAN V SUPERMAN Is MAN OF STEEL 2

Seems to me like the people involved with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice don’t really know exactly what the movie is. We’ve heard that it’s not a sequel to Man of Steel, we’ve heard that it’s more of a Batman movie, and now all of a sudden it’s a sequel again.

During an interview with Canoe, Zack Snyder offers up some new details on Batman v Superman and how it actually is a sequel to Man of Steel:

“I think in a way Batman v Superman is Man of Steel 2. Justice League is kind of the transcendent, knights-of-the-round-table of the story. It’d be interesting to think about what a standalone Superman movie might be.”

We’ve heard about some things that might be going on with that standalone sequel that you can read about here. He goes on to talk about trying to figure out the future of the DCEU, like the two Justice League movies that Snyder is set to direct:

“We really have to figure out the why of them, and I think that we have. That’s the one thing that’s cool to me about Batman v Superman, it’s all about the mythology of these two massive icons. And I think that’s compelling.”

As to whether he would have ever thought he’d be directing these kinds of films during his time as a young director working on Dawn of the Dead, he says:

“At that point I was really into (Frank Miller’s comic) The Dark Knight Returns. I don’t know that I thought about it in those terms, but if you told me that I might make a ‘Justice League’ movie, I wouldn’t think that that was weird. But I don’t think I would realize what it meant to pop culture the way it has struck pop culture right now.”

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice stars Henry Cavill in the role of Superman, Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, with Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, and Diane Lane. Jesse Eisenberg plays Lex Luthor, Holly Hunter also has a role in the film, as does Jason Momoa, who will make an appearance as Aquaman. The film is set to open worldwide on March 25th, 2016.

Dawn of Justice screenwriter Chris Terrio is in the process of writing Justice League Part One for a November 10th, 2017 release, and Justice League Part Two is being planned for release on June 14th, 2019.

New Trailer for THE PEANUTS MOVIE - Charlie Brown Wants to Impress the New Girl

A charming new trailer has been released for Blu Sky's The Peanuts Movie. It offers us a ton of new footage from the film and gives us a much better idea of the story. Basically, a new girl moves into the neighborhood that he wants to impress. She's the one person in that doesn't know how much of a blockhead he is, and he sees it as a chance for a fresh start.

This movie looks freakin' great! It seems like it has everything that fans love about these classic characters. I thought for sure a movie like this would butcher everything we love about Peanuts, but this actually amplifies it, and I couldn't be happier with what fans are being presented with. I'm excited about this!

Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Lucy, Linus and the rest of the beloved “Peanuts” gang make their big-screen debut, like they’ve never been seen before, in state of the art 3D animation.  Charlie Brown, the world’s most beloved underdog, embarks upon an epic and heroic quest, while his best pal, the lovable beagle Snoopy, takes to the skies to pursue his arch-nemesis, the Red Baron.  From the imagination of Charles M. Schulz and the creators of the ICE AGE films, THE PEANUTS MOVIE will prove that every underdog has his day.

The movie will be released in theaters on November 6th.

Life-Size BB-8 Plush Toy

Thanks to Think Geek, you can now own a life-size plush toy version of the new droid BB-8 from J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: The Force Awakens. This thing is actually really cool, and I'd love to get one for my kids because I know they'd love it. The plush is 2' tall and 18" in diameter. It also weighs 5 1/2 pounds! It came along with the following product description:

There's one thing we can all agree on: BB-8 needs to be hugged. The little round body. The slight head tilt. It just calls for corporal cuddling.

However, if you have the Sphero version of BB-8, you can't really hug it. Well, you could, but you'd have to be careful, and it's not really of a size where a real HUG is possible. You'd probably be best just patting it on the head and letting it go on its merry way.

This Life Size BB-8 Plush promises not to go on its merry way before you get a hug in. That's because it has no motor inside. Just stuffin'. Did we mention it's 2 feet tall? It's weighted so the head stays mostly upright. Because nobody wants an upside-down droid, even a plush one.

If you want one of these, it will cost you $49.99.

Trailer for THE BIG SHORT - Bale, Pitt, Gosling, and Carell Bet Against the Banks

Talk about a star-studded cast! Writer and director Adam McKay (Anchorman, Step Brothers, The Other Guys) has made a new movie called The Big Short and brought together a great cast to bring this story to life that includes Christian Bale, Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling and Brad Pitt. The movie looks great, and it's unlike anything that McKay has made before. The movie is being positioned for some Oscar nominations.

It is a true story based on the book by Michael Lewis (The Blind Side, Moneyball), and this is the synopsis:

When four outsiders saw what the big banks, media and government refused to, the global collapse of the economy, they had an idea: The Big Short. Their bold investment leads them into the dark underbelly of modern banking where they must question everyone and everything.

The movie also co-stars Karen Gillan, Melissa Leo, Hamish Linklater, John Magaro, Rafe Spall, Jeremy Strong, Marisa Tomei, and Finn Wittrock. It's set to be released in theaters on December 23rd.

Why You Shouldn't Bother With MINORITY REPORT Or Any Fox Sci-Fi Series

$

0

I swear to you this started out as a review. I sat down and pulled up the first episode of Fox's latest primetime sci-fi Minority Report and began my watch. I sat and critically examined the show. Was the acting solid? How's the story? Will our audience like it? Then it hit me. None of that f****** matters.

Fox has an insanely bad history with science fiction series. For every Gotham and Sleepy Hollow, there's an Almost Human, Firefly, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Terra Nova, and Fringe in its wake. Fox has shown time and time again they can take a perfectly good series and completely flush it with poor management and executive decisions.

It's easy to blame the mainstream audience. Geeks are a small niche audience, we don't deserve a prime time slot, and to their credit, sometimes they're right. Our critical nature and skepticism typically leads to slow numbers in the beginning of a series, unless, of course, a superhero is attached. The numbers have typically picked up with these favorites and the day one fans breathe a sigh of relief until the fated hiatus comes and Fox does what they always do.

"Be sure to catch 'insert sci fi show here' on its new night and time."

Awesome... well, there goes the building audience. Fox execs with no faith scatter series' in a panic inducing way for whatever comedian has a new show. So the enjoyment you once had from a series inevitably becomes a hassle as those who don't have DVR tune out because as much as they love their show, they love their Friday evenings more, and the headlines start.

You panic as the only news you read on your new beloved show from day to day are creator interviews saying the shows future is uncertain. Actors thanking fans for their support, and then the inevitable blog writer that writes a desperate plea to save his show.

I was that last guy. Last year Fox burned me bad with Almost Human. If you didn't see it last year (no surprise if you didn't) I highly encourage you to check out the full series on CW Seed, as this show had it all. Seriously how could a show with two well known actors (Michael Ealy and Karl Urban) fail? The production value was surprisingly high, the dynamic between Ealy and Urban awesome, and the concept was refreshing and appealing. Numbers for the show's first couple episodes were surprisingly solid! It was a dream, it was fantastic, and it was also f***** cancelled.

I'll admit things were a little rough in the show's run. Critics complained there were inconsistencies within the show's story, and I'll admit, there were. We'd watch one episode where Ealy and Urban were buddy buddy and then the next it'd be like they hardly know each other. After a few weeks of reviews bashing the inconsistencies (which hurt numbers), the creator spoke out and said Fox executives had changed the episode order of the official show.

You might remember another famous Fox-produced classic that had this exact thing happen by the name of Firefly. In both cases execs made the argument that the decisions were made to keep the action heavy throughout the length of the series...you know because that's the most important thing. F*** continuity.

Long story short, I'm still pissed about it. So pissed that I don't even want to commit to this new series they are desperately shoving down our throats like they depend on us to watch it...and then have likely given up on it by the time of this publishing. I can't Fox...I just can't feel that hurt again.

Tracy Morgan in Talks to Join Ice Cube and Charlie Day in FIST FIGHT

As you know, 30 Rock star and comedian Tracy Morgan has been recovering from a serious car accident last year. It's been a long and hard road for him, but he made a surprise appearance at the Emmy Awards last weekend and received a standing ovation. The guy was hilarious, and it looks like he's ready to get back to work! You can watch his Emmy appearance below.

According to THR, Morgan is in talks to join to Ice Cube and Charlie Day in a comedy called Fist Fight. This school-based story follows two teachers played by Cube and Day, who "work in a broken-down school system and wind up in an epic fist fight." If Morgan ends up in the movie, he will take on the role of the school's coach.

The script comes from Evan Susser and Van Robichaux, and it will be directed by Richie Keen (It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia).

This sounds like it could be a very funny flick, and this would be the first project that Morgan could take on since his accident. I think this could be a good part for him to get rolling into acting again.

We take our media for granted. Currently I have four streaming services I subscribe to and 500 cable channels with on demand to catch anything my DVR already doesn't. Essentially there's nothing I'm missing unless I choose to miss it. Other countries aren't so lucky. Most who want to watch our American television have to pay inflated prices to streaming services and suffer through less than ideal internet connection speeds to get it...if they get it legally. What you are about to read is why piracy is considered a widespread issue. Americans are small fish when compared to other countries.

A Priest Blessed The Set on The First Day of Shooting For THE CONJURING 2

Director James Wan has started production on The Conjuring 2, and he's released a series of new photos from the set. One of them features a priest blessing the set of the film on the first day of shooting. I guess they don't want evil spirits latching onto the set of a movie that deals with the horrors of the supernatural realm.

Yes, we actually had a priest to bless our set on the first day of shooting Conjuring 2!!

Posted by James Wan on Monday, September 21, 2015

Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga reprise their roles as real-life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. The movie also stars Frances O’Connor as a mother who turns to the Warrens in desperation after her daughter experiences a haunting.

The sequel will be based on The Enfield Poltergeist and I found a detailed account of what this story entailed on a website called The Committee of Skeptical Inquiry

"In August 1977, a series of disturbances that were soon characterized as a case of poltergeist phenomena or even demonic possession began in Enfield, a northern suburb of London. The subject of a forthcoming movie, the occurrences, including the actions of an eleven-year-old girl who repeatedly 'levitated' above her bed, “held the nation spellbound” for over a year, according to Britain’s Daily Mail; 'no explanation other than the paranormal has ever been convincingly put forward'"

For more details on the story, click here. The movie is set to be released on June 10th, 2016. Here are the additional photos that Wan posted:

10 Fun Facts About CAN’T HARDLY WAIT

$

One of my favorite teen movies to come out of the 1990s was a little film called Can’t Hardly Wait. This was just such a fun story, and I absolutely loved the characters. Since the movie’s release, it has kind of become a cult classic. It was one of those films that kind of connected with me because I had a lot in common with the main character of the film played by Ethan Embry. I was flipping through channels the other day and came across the movie, and after watching it again I was inspired to do a Fun Facts list for it! I have a list of ten things here that you may or may not have known before.

The following information was found on Imdb and I also try to add some additional commentary and videos when I can in these posts.

  • This was Jason Segel’s big screen debut, and he went on to become an A-list star.
  • Directors Deborah Kaplan and Harry Elfont had the cast and crew completely trash the house during the final scenes of the party, which saw lots of chaotic destruction. “This involved the cast and crew pulling out drawers, dropping food all over the floor, messing up the carpets, and someone spray painting ‘This Party Sucked’ on the front door. This all happened in one hour.”
  • The movie was Charlie Korsmo's last on-screen role. He was attending MIT when he was offered the part. He ended up getting a law degree at Yale and is now an Assistant Professor of Law and the U.S. director of the Canada-U.S. Law Institute at the Case Western Reserve University School of Law, where he teaches courses in corporate law, corporate finance, and torts.
  • Melissa Joan Hart's name doesn't appear in the end credits.
  • The fraternity on Trip McNealy's polo shirt is Delta Iota Kappa ("DIK").
  • There were characters in the movie who were cut out of it to secure a PG-13 rating. The first was called the Crying Drunk Girl played by Jennifer Elise Cox. She had subtitles for everything she says because she was supposed to be so drunk that no one could understand her. The other character was Stoned Girl played by Amber Benson. She was so spaced out on dope that she just wanders in and out of a number of scenes. Here’s a scene of her below looking a banana.
  • The film takes place on Wednesday, June 17th, 1998, which was Barry Manilow's 55th birthday.
  • William Lichter was suppose to take a shot of tequila, but to get a PG-13 rating they had to replace the tequila glass with a lemon digitally in post-production.
  • There are four cast members in the film that went on to appear in the HBO series Six Feet Under. Those actors include Lauren Ambrose, Peter Facinelli, Freddy Rodriguez, and Eric Balfour.
  • Here are some alternate “where are the now” character updates from the end of the movie that were changed:
“The final parts of 'where the characters are now' were changed. The original Kenny and Denise part originally read: Denise dumped Kenny later that day. Denise went to NYU, where she found a whole bunch of people just like her. Bored at it all, she dropped out and started shooting photo covers for Rolling Stone Magazine. She currently directed the latest music video for Wu-Tang Clan.”
“The original Kenny bit read: Kenny went to UCLA and found a bunch of people just like him. Unable to compete, he reinvented himself as an eco-conscious vegan nudist. He currently lives with a cult in Northern California.”
“Other character bios read: William's friends, Geoff Piccirilli and Murphy Pelan, did not go to college. They created a comic book called Citizen X about a man with no identity, no Social Security number, nothing, who uses his anonymity to infiltrate numerous conspiracies involving the government, aliens, and the abduction and subsequent probing of them and other innocent people by extraterrestrials. They are currently dating no one.”
“Another character quote reads: Amanda's cousin, Ron, is currently in prison.”
“The Girl Whose Party It Is was also featured and it reads: The Girl Whose Party It Was, Molly Stinson, dropped out of college her freshman year to work as an intern for her role model, Martha Stewart. Three months later, she was hospitalized for a nervous breakdown. She is currently working as a librarian.”
“The Crying Drunk Girl's character read: The Crying Drunk Girl, Mary Hampson, attended college for nearly two years, then dropped out to become a tour guide at the White House, a job she still holds. Her favorite times at work is leading groups of school children in an enthusiastic rendition of the Pledge of Allegiance.”

SICARIO Sequel In Development at Lionsgate

I'm a big fan of Sicario, the new cartel thriller starring Emily Blunt, Josh Brolin, and Benicio Del Toro. (You can read my full review here.) The film opened this past Friday in limited release and had a great per-screen average last weekend, and Lionsgate plans on slowly rolling it out to more audiences as they prepare the movie's Oscar campaign. But frankly, I was a little surprised to read in Variety that the studio is also planning a sequel, simply because with blockbuster culture in overdrive, we don't often see sequels for small scale action dramas aimed at adults.

The sequel will reportedly focus on Del Toro's hitman character. He's one of the most mysterious aspects of the first movie, and his backstory gradually comes to light (and his badassery increases) as the film goes on. I'm slightly disappointed it won't focus on Blunt's character, because I think she's a huge part of why Sicario is so good and why people are even interested in it in the first place; it's rare to see this kind of movie with a female lead, and Blunt holds the movie so well that it's a shame she's not the center of the next one (although I suppose it's still possible she could reprise her role).

Sicario writer Taylor Sheridan will oversee the development of the project, and director Denis Villeneuve will also be involved in some capacity, although it's unknown at this point whether he'll return to direct. We'll have to wait and see if this one ever comes to fruition, but in the meantime, go check out Sicario when it comes to a theater near you.

Chris Evans and Jared Leto In Talks For THE GIRL ON THE TRAIN

$

The upcoming film adaptation of Paula Hawkins' bestselling mystery novel The Girl on the Train already has some impressive talent associated with it: Emily Blunt, Rebecca Ferguson, and Haley Bennett are starring for director Tate Taylor (Get On Up). Now Variety reports that the movie is about to add two superhero movie alums, since Chris Evans and Jared Leto are currently in early talks to co-star.

If the deals go through, Evans would play Ferguson's husband and Leto would play Bennett's. For those unfamiliar with the project, here's the intriguing synopsis of the book:

Rachel takes the same commuter train every morning. Every day she rattles down the track, flashes past a stretch of cozy suburban homes, and stops at the signal that allows her to daily watch the same couple breakfasting on their deck. She’s even started to feel like she knows them. “Jess and Jason,” she calls them. Their life—as she sees it—is perfect. Not unlike the life she recently lost.

And then she sees something shocking. It’s only a minute until the train moves on, but it’s enough. Now everything’s changed. Unable to keep it to herself, Rachel offers what she knows to the police, and becomes inextricably entwined in what happens next, as well as in the lives of everyone involved. Has she done more harm than good?

Compulsively readable, The Girl on the Train is an emotionally immersive, Hitchcockian thriller and an electrifying debut.

This movie has the potential to be excellent, and adding two talented guys like Evans and Leto can only improve that potential. I'm stoked about this one.
