marvel-announces-guardians-of-the-galaxy-cosmic-mix-vol-1-soundtrack

James Gunn’s soundtrack for Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy was one of the most popular movie soundtracks of 2014. It was just so awesome on so many levels, and it played a huge part of the story that he wanted to tell in the movie. We will eventually get a Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 mix tape for the upcoming sequel, but before that, fans will be treated with Guardians Of The Galaxy: Cosmic Mix Vol. 1, which is the soundtrack for the Guardians of the Galaxy animated series coming to Disney XD. That soundtrack includes a collection of songs from the 1970 and 1980s, which is the same musical era that we were treated to with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1. These are all great tracks and you can listen to them in the SoundCloud embed. Below that, you’ll find the full press release Marvel sent out.

Jack Nicholson's Joker’s Reaction to Jared Leto’s Joker

Here’s a brief but amusing video of Jack Nicholson’s classic Joker character giving his reaction to Jared Leto’s version of the Joker that we’ll see in Suicide Squad. When I saw that first image of Leto’s Joker, it was very surprising and shocking. Fans weren’t expecting that at all. I think audiences will warm up to the look the more we start to see of him.

I’ve got a very funny comedy short film for you to watch today called I’m You Dickhead. It’s a bit crude, but it sure did make me laugh. This story is set around the concept of time travel and it takes place in a future where time travel is a simple hospital procedure. A man goes back in time to the 1980s to tell his 10-year-old self to learn the guitar so that he has a little bit more luck getting action with the ladies when he’s older. As you might expect, the time traveling aspect of the story gets a little out of hand and things get crazy. Thanks to Short of the Week for the film!

Artist Scott Park is back with another piece of poster art he created. This one was inspired by Mad Max and it’s called Mad World: The Vehicles of Fury Road. This is the note that came along with the illustration:

“Drive up to the gates of Valhalla, all shiny and chrome, with 33 of the craziest vehicles ever to battle it out on the Fury Road. Witness the madness!”

Barry Allen is Painfully Distressed in Poster For THE FLASH Season 2

0
0

We’ve got another poster for The Flash Season 2 and Barry Allen is looking like he’s going through some pretty painful shit. I’m not sure what exactly the poster is teasing in terms of plot, but he’s not looking very happy. I look at that image and I can’t help but feel sorry for the poor guy!

Following the defeat of Barry Allen’s arch-nemesis Eobard Thawne (aka Reverse Flash), Team Flash quickly turned their attention to the singularity swirling high above Central City, which fans last saw consuming everything in its path. Armed with the heart of a hero and the ability to move at super speeds, Barry charged into the eye of the singularity, but will he actually be able to save his city from impending doom?
The Flash stars Grant Gustin as Barry Allen/The Flash, Candice Patton as Iris West, Rick Cosnett as Eddie Thawne, Danielle Panabaker as Caitlin Snow, Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramon and Jesse L. Martin as Detective Joe West. The new season will also include the addition of newcomers Violett Beane as the female speedster Jesse Quick, Demore Barnes as Tokamak, Tony Todd as the voice of the new “big bad,” Zoom and Teddy Sears as Jay Garrett.

The Flash will premiere its second season on Tuesday, October 6th at 8pm.

A Demon Stalks His Victim in SELFIE FROM HELL Horror Short

Selfie From Hell is a fun horror short film that centers on a woman who takes a selfie of herself for her boyfriend and sees that there’s a creepy demon lurking in the background of her photos. It’s a simple idea, but it turned out to be a creepy little flick. It was produced by Meelah Adams and directed by Erdal Ceylan of the YouTube channel Fuck You Zombie.

New Photo For ASH VS. EVIL DEAD and NYCC Panel Plans

STARZ has released a new photo for Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell’s Ash Vs. Evil Dead and they’ve also announced plans to bring the series to New York Comic Con next month!

Here’s yet another reason I’m sad that I’m not going to NYCC this year. There will be an autograph signing on Saturday, October 10th at 10am at Ash’s Trailer at the Inner Roadway. Later on that day, there will be a panel from 3pm to 4pm in the Hammerstein Ballroom.

Some of the cast and crew will be there to talk about the series, and I’m pretty confident that they’ll have some fun bloody footage to share with the fans.

The cast is led by Bruce Campbell (Evil Dead, “Burn Notice”) reprising his role of Ash Williams, the stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. Rounding out the cast are Lucy Lawless (“Salem,” “Spartacus”) as Ruby a mysterious figure who believes Ash is the cause of the Evil outbreaks, Ray Santiago (“Touch,” Meet the Fockers) as Pablo Simon Bolivar, an idealistic immigrant who becomes Ash’s loyal sidekick, Dana DeLorenzo (A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas) as Kelly Maxwell, a moody wild child trying to outrun her past and Jill Marie Jones (“Sleepy Hollow”) as Amanda Fisher, a disgraced Michigan State Trooper set to find our anti-hero Ash and prove his responsibility in the grisly murder of her partner.
The 10-episode first season of the half-hour series is executive produced by Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert, Bruce Campbell, the original filmmakers, and Craig DiGregorio who serves as executive producer and showrunner. Ash vs Evil Dead is the long-awaited follow-up to the classic horror film The Evil Dead.

Ash vs. Evil Dead premieres Saturday, October 31st at 9:00pm.

The short is a promotional video created by Mr.TVCow for Syfy’s Z Nation series. The video turned out to be incredibly entertaining. Who would have thought that watching cats kill a bunch of zombies would be so fun?

Game Review: SUPER TIME FORCE ULTRA is a Very Unique and Radical Game

game-review-super-time-force-ultra-is-a-very-unique-and-radical-game

Have you ever played a co-op game and thought to yourself, "Man, I wish I could play this game without the help of this guy." If only there was some way I could play with myself...the game...play the co-op game with myself. Well, with Super Time Force Ultra (STFU), you can.

STFU is a side-scrolling platformer created by Capybara Games. It has you play as a small set of heroes trying to correct history by making it more RADICAL! The twist? Any time you die, you have a set amount of rewinds so you can go back in time and redo what just happened. But unlike other time-rewinding games, whatever you happen to do with your last life stays intact. So if you kill a monster and then die, you can rewind and fight alongside that last life and watch him or her kill the monster all over again and you can even save their life from whatever killed them, granting you an extra life. Sound confusing? Boy, is it! But over time, it makes sense.

My first play-through of the game, I had a difficult time making it through. I almost wanted to give up, because the game is unapologetically hard. The whole level is timed and you only have a set number of rewinds. As I tried, I viewed the rewinds more of an undo, like it is in Prince of Persia. After a while, I finally figured out the trick. I am playing multiple different characters with their own missions. I can send two over to get a collectable, while the other two shoot down enemies, making one more about who's job is to just follow in and take out what's leftover. Once I figured this out, things became a lot easier. Bosses in particular. I started out having a tough time with one boss, but then rewound a couple times and instead of just me fighting the boss, it was me, me from a few seconds ago, me from a few seconds earlier, and so on. And the damage stacked. Once I started to get the hang of working alongside previous attempts, I started finding strategies of how to work with myself.  Suffice it to say, I shortly became addicted.

This game is amazing in so many ways. Graphically, it keeps the look simple with pixel graphics but still manages to capture the theme and style of each character and level. Speaking of levels, I feel like each one has a very unique feel and playthrough. There is a dinosaur level where you focus more on fighting off charging enemies, whereas the post-apocalypse wasteland has a lot of Mad Max-looking guys with guns. Each level is beautifully crafted and interesting to play with bosses with their own tricks and strategies to beat. The writing is very funny and childlike. It is a game that your younger self would just love with ideas and concepts that sounds like they came straight out of your imagination at recess. It is currently free for Playstation Plus Members, so go check it out. It is definitely worth every play and replay.

MAD MAX: FURY ROAD Trailer Recut With Mel Gibson

Here’s a cool video that takes the Mad Max: Fury Road trailer, but it features Mel Gibson instead of Tom Hardy. The trailer was cut together by YouTuber Mike B. and he basically took Gibson's face and digitally pasted it onto Tom Hardy’s body. It’s pretty interesting to watch.

As good as Hardy was in the movie, I still would have liked to see an older Mel Gibson reprise the role that launched his career. This kind of gives us an idea of what that might be like.

If you really want to see something great, you've got to watch this fan-made music video for Blackalicious’ song “The Blowup.” It's set to footage from Wes Anderson's Fantastic Mr. Fox, and it's absolute perfection. It was created by  Youtuber Animal Robot, and it's seriously one of the coolest fan-made music videos I've ever seen.

3 New Promos For AMERICAN HORROR STORY: HOTEL - “Locked Up” and “Above & Below”

FX has released three new promo teasers for American Horror Story: Hotel. The first is called “Above & Below” and it focuses on Lady Gaga’s character rocking out to the German industrial hard rock band Rammstein. The second is called “Locked Up,” and it holds the key to unlocking the mysteries of the upcoming season of the horror anthology series. You gotta love those weird ass unsettling visuals. The third video is a featurette for the show that explains what fans will be getting themselves into.

The new season was inspired by a surveillance video from a Los Angeles-based hotel that surfaced two years ago. The footage showed a girl in an elevator acting very strangely. That was the last time she was seen alive. The story for the show is set in a hotel in downtown L.A., where they "deal with a lot of American horrors, [including] addiction.” You can learn more about the characters and plot details here.

This season also stars Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Wes Bentley, Matt Bomer, Chloë Sevigny, Denis O’Hare, Cheyenne Jackson, Evan Peters, and Finn Wittrock. American Horror Story: Hotel is set to premiere on October 7th.

3 Eerie New TV Spots for CRIMSON PEAK

Guillermo del Toro's gothic horror thriller Crimson Peak is one of my moat anticipated films of the year. This movie looks amazingly terrifying, and according to people who have seen the movie, it's going to deliver everything that fans of Del Toro are hoping to see. A few months ago Stephen King had an opportunity to see the movie and he called the film, "Gorgeous and just fucking terrifying.” He went on to say:

Crimson Peak electrified me in the same way Sam Rami's Evil Dead electrified me when I saw it for the first time way back in the day.”

That's pretty high praise, and as a fan of King and his work, he's a guy whose opinion I trust. We've got three new creepy TV spots for you to check out today to get you more excited about what Del Toro has created for us horror fans.

In the aftermath of a family tragedy, an aspiring author is torn between love for her childhood friend and the temptation of a mysterious outsider. Trying to escape the ghosts of her past, she is swept away to a house that breathes, bleeds…and remembers.

The movie stars Jessica Chastain, Tom Hiddleston, Charlie Hunnam, and Mia Wasikowska. It will be released in theaters on October 16th!

Top 10 Fictional Video Games Presented in Movies

I love it when filmmakers get creative and create nonexistent video games to use in their films. One of the best in recent memory is the game that was played by Joaquin Phoenix in the Spike Jonze film Her. That game was called Alien Child, and it would be pretty damn cool to see a game like that someday. Thanks to WatchMojo, we have a great video presentation that gives us their list of the Top 10 fictional video games that we've seen in movies. Alien Child is one of the games that made it onto their list, but it didn't take the number one spot. To find out what other fake games made the list, and what came in at number one, check out the video below!

Original Theatrical Versions of the STAR WARS Trilogy Coming to Blu-ray?

0
0

It’s been rumored off and on for years that the original theatrical cut of George Lucas' Star Wars trilogy would be released on Blu-ray. The last time this rumor came up was last year. It’s something fans have been waiting to see for years. It’s been a long long time since I’ve seen the pure versions of these films.

It’s now being reported again, and the news comes from director John Landis, who heard it from Lucas himself. If this is true, it means that Disney and Lucasfilm were able to work out a deal with 20th Century Fox, who not only currently owns the release rights to the original trilogy and the prequel trilogy until 2020, but they also permanently own the rights to Star Wars: A New Hope and always will. You can read the tweets delivering the news from Empire Magazine below:

Judging by the person that this news comes from, this is the most credible source we’ve heard this news from so far. It makes sense for Disney and Lucasfilm to finally release these unaltered cuts of the film on Blu-ray. It was inevitable that something like this would eventually be released. It's one of the things that is in high demand. It’s also the only version of these films that I will actually go out and spend money on again.

Hopefully, Landis’ intel is right. There’s no reason for him to make something like this up, so there has to be some truth to the matter. We just don’t know what the details are yet. We’ll keep you updated.

First Official Look at Red Tornado in SUPERGIRL

first-official-look-at-red-tornado-in-supergirl

Not long ago it was announced that Iddo Goldberg (Defiance, Salem) had been cast in the role of Dr. T.O. Morrow, a.k.a. Red Tornado, in the upcoming series Supergirl. DC Entertainment and CBS have released a photo that gives us out first official look at the character.

The character is officially described in the series as, “The most advanced android the world has ever seen. Designed by scientist T.O. Morrow for the U.S. Army as the ultimate superweapon, he soon becomes sentient, posing a grave danger to National City — including the people Supergirl cares about most.”

The comic book design is a hell of a lot cooler, but this costume design looks a decent cosplay outfit. I imagine it will look a lot better when we see it in the series after all the post-production work has been done.

Supergirl is based on the characters from DC Comics and centers on Kara Zor-El, who comes to Earth after escaping the destruction of Krypton. After many years hiding her abilities, she joins the ranks of her cousin Superman to become the hero she was meant to be.

Melissa Benoist leads the cast in the role of Supergirl along with Mehcad Brooks as James Olsen, Laura Benanti as Alura Zor-El, Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant, Chyler Leigh as Alexandra “Alex” Danvers, Jeremy Jordan as Winslow “Winn” Schott, Jenna Dewan Tatum as Lucy Lane (sister of Lois), David Harewood as Hank Henshaw, Peter Facinelli as Maxwell Lord, and Dean Cain and Helen Slater.

Supergirl will premiere on Monday, October 26th.

Ernie Hudson Films Cameo in GHOSTBUSTERS Reboot

0

Paul Feig completed shooting his Ghostbusters reboot over the weekend, and he revealed in a tweet that Ernie Hudson actually shot a cameo for the film. As you know, he played Winston Zeddemore in the original Ghostbusters movies.

He shot his cameo on the last day of production, and there are no details on what his cameo will be in the film. We do know that this reboot will have no connections to the original movies, though, so he will not be reprising his original role.

It has previously been revealed that Dan Aykroyd will have a cameo as a taxi driver, and Bill Murray will play a ghost debunker in the movie. Hudson seemed against the idea of a reboot at first and told The Telegraph in an interview:

“I heard it was going to be a total reboot, and that it would have nothing to do with the other two movies. If it has nothing to do with the other two movies, and it’s all female, then why are you calling it Ghostbusters?
“I love females. I hope that if they go that way at least they’ll be funny, and if they’re not funny at least hopefully it’ll be sexy. I love the idea of including women, I think that’s great. But all-female I think would be a bad idea. I don’t think the fans want to see that.
“Maybe it will come out and be the most amazing thing, but in my opinion I think it would be wrong to do another movie that didn’t include the guys. And that didn’t include me!”

He changed his tune toward the remake earlier this year, though, and now he has a cameo in the movie. He recently posted the following comment on Twitter:

I guess when there’s a steady paycheck involved, he’ll say whatever they want him to say.

Tim Burton Movie-Inspired Fashion Art Series

One thing that I love about the movies of Tim Burton are the wonderfully crazy costume designs. I've got a series of illustrations here created by Guillermo Meraz that took those designs and transformed them into something we might see if they were a fashion collection. These outfits awesomely blend the looks of characters such as Edward Scissorhands, Beetlejuice, Jack Skellington, Willy Wonka, Mad Hatter, and more. This is something I could totally see Hot Topic eventually doing. Hell, maybe they already have!

CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR - Asia Pop ComicCon Trailer Description

Fan Poster by bramasto17

Over the weekend a trailer for Marvel's Captain America: Civil War screened at Asia Pop ComicCon. We previously got to see some footage from Disney's D23 Expo, but this latest trailer seems to contain some additional footage.

Thanks to some people that were at the convention, we have some rough descriptions of what they saw. The one thing that still hasn't been revealed is the new Spider-Man. Marvel is still keeping him locked in a safe for the time being. The following details came from CBM, and they do contain SPOILERS:

  • Iron Man fighting both Captain America and the Winter Soldier.
  • Iron Man throwing Cap, but not seeing Bucky and then getting punched in the face.
  • This is probably a misdirection, but Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow is apparently the rumored double agent and it sounds like she doublecrosses Cap. She is shown reporting to the government, including General Ross and Tony Stark, before her showdown with Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye.
  • More of the Black Widow/Hawkeye fight; Natasha looks to be in bad shape after Clint delivers a big blow
  • Vision fighting both Falcon and Scarlet Witch.
  • More of the scene where Ant-Man thanks Cap for letting him be a part of the team. This time, Scott apparently pulls a Peggy and touches Steve's pecs to feel how big/firm they are at some point during the conversation.
  • Daniel Brühl's Baron Zemo makes an appearance.
  • Steve and Bucky hugging it out.

This next bit of information comes from Reddit user murdockmanila:

Most of your probably know what that trailer looked like but here are my takeaways from viewing it twice. Yes, we got to see it twice.
  • Redwing seriously looks amazing!! The trailer does open with Cap's team in the African Market. Falcon mans a stealthy Redwing making its way under a van filled with explosives. Cap orders the team to attack. Falcon does an super awesome dive from the rooftop he's in and doesn't pull out his wings until landing closely.
  • We see another van open and Crossbones steps up along with his goons; with the most prominent goon being Ex-Thanos actor Damion Poitier. Black Widow makes her way to the market in a very cool tracking shot reminiscent of her sequence in IM2 and does her signature leg wrap on Poitier. Falcon also does a pretty cool set of combat moves utilizing his wings.
  • You know those on set pics of Cap and the crowd screaming at something above them in fear? It's Cap throwing a grenade in the air. Someone fires a grenade at him (I think it's Crossbones) and it latches on to his shield. Cap tosses it in the air before it explodes. As Cap flinches at the air explosion, Crossbones kicks him hard from behind and their fight happens. I didn't notice anything different from the D23 descriptions in this one. Cap dismantles one of Crossbones' gauntlets pretty quickly. Crossbones then pops a blade out of the other gauntlet. Again, Cap beats him up and cracks his helmet. We don't get a good look at Rumlow's burnt face here.
  • VO by General Ross - looking a lot slimmer since his TIH appearance. Talks about vigilantism. We see a shot of - what looks like - Steve Rogers preventing a helicopter from crashing in slowmo. He pushes it away with one hand as his other hand is against a railing. We see his Avengers team going through a series of control rooms. They are led by Martin Freeman's character. In the blink-and-you'll-miss-it moments he had, definitely felt more like a Henry Gyrich than an Everett Ross.
  • The Ant-Man post credits scene happens. Bucky does remember Steve. He tells him his mother's name and how he used to put newspaper in his shoes - you know D23 stuff. Best part of this scene is how Bucky delivers that line with an expression of relief and pain. Steve does a heartfelt smile. You just know how happy he is to have his bestfriend back.
  • Quick cuts of what looks like Cap smashing a soldier into a column. Bucky in his red jacket outfit punching other soldiers. Several shots of Crossbones with a different looking mask; this time with a yellow looking visor. These Crossbones shots are intersected with scenes that are set in this building. We get to see that truck flip. More shots of Crossbones walking down a hall. Lots of flickering lights in what appears to be the control center I mentioned earlier.
  • One of the more interesting shots in the trailer was Cap and Bucky walking in snow towards a secret looking base in full superhero attire. The shot was barely 2 seconds but man did Bucky and Cap standing side by side in a mission look [frick]ing good. Holy shit that shot of the funeral scene. You see that scene happening - where they're carrying the casket in the aisle - and how beautifully framed it was, expect the tears to flow. Considering how we pretty much know who's funeral that is, Cap carrying the casket makes this scene heartbreaking to watch.
  • Those Tony Stark lines to Steve about how he wanted to punch him in his perfect teeth? I was expecting it to be during a fight. Those scenes were set in a conference room, probably from the same venue where those control rooms are. We see a helmetless Iron Man open an elevator door with his hands and he has a huge black eye. Another with Tony Stark walking behind General Ross.
  • Super fast glances at the other heroes. Hawkeye doing Hawkeye stuff with his bow. The Vision pondering as he plays chess in a suit. There's also a super fast shot of Black Panther revealing his claws as he's locking up against Hawkeye's bow.
  • We then see that infamous airport fight scene thanks to those leaked pics from a few weeks back. The money shot of Cap's team running though the tarmac was unimpressive to be honest. One dude online said it best - "It looked like the scene in Anchorman when all the news teams converged in that alley and fought." It looked really goofy and awkward. But then again, this is the D23 trailer they cut a month ago. A ton could be added to that scene for some kickass superhero flair.
  • That end tag with Ant-Man was what you'd expect it to be. The theater went insane just seeing Paul Rudd in the trailer. He's going to be one of the best additions in the movie no doubt. He cops a feel of Steve's pecs.

There's no word on when Marvel is actually going to release an official trailer for this movie, but one day it will come and when it does fans are going to be blown away by what they see! That footage I saw at D23 was pretty incredible, and it over-delivered on the awesomeness!

Captain America: Civil War hits theaters on May 6th, 2016.
