The Tesla Watch Is a Work of Steampunk Chronometer Art

Think Geek has unveiled a new product they are selling called the Tesla Watch, and it's pretty damn cool! It includes a weathered brass look with two vacuum tube-style LED bulbs on top. It has a perfect steampunk style feel to it, now all it needs is the function to travel through time.

Tesla came up with all sorts of inventions and has sort of become the poster scientist for awesomeness now. Sure he wasn't perfect. Sure he was a bit crazy. But he was always on time for his appointments. (Ed. note: We made that up.) And now you can be, too, with the new Tesla Watch.

The Tesla Watch goes with your steampunk aesthetic. With a weathered-brass look on all the metal parts, this analog watch features a leather strap. The highlights of this design, however, are the two faux vacuum tubes with red LEDs inside that you can turn on and off with the flick of a switch. Everybody will want to ask you what time it is so they can see your watch. Just remember to follow the answer with, "... 1875."

If you want to buy one, it will cost you $59.99.

BORDERLANDS Movie Officially in Development at Lionsgate

This month we've posted Movie Dream Team articles for the popular video game franchise Borderlands and Borderlands 2. Lionsgate has now announced that they are developing a big-screen adaptation of the Borderlands video game, and it will be produced by Avi Arad (Spider-Man, Iron Man) and his son Ari Arad. For those of you not familiar with the game, here's the official synopsis:

“In a distant future, the planets at the outer edges of the galaxy have become a beacon to fortune seekers and those yearning for a better life off world. But there are no guarantees in deep space. Pandora, one of these distant planets, was reported to be rich in untapped mineral wealth, and so drew many hoping to get rich quick, but in the end little was found beyond the scattered ruins of a past alien civilization. With nothing to gain, any who could soon abandoned Pandora, leaving those who remained to deal with the lawlessness of a world gone bust, and the mystery of the long-dead alien civilization. But as chaotic as these times were, there were worse days yet to come. After several years the planet’s huge orbit slowly brought it near to its sun and once unknown and horrifying creatures sprang from their long hibernation to terrify the stranded colonists. The only hope of the colonists seems to be a vault discovered in the side of a mountainside, rumored to contain alien technology and secrets about Pandora.”

Borderlands has the potential to be an incredibly mind-blowing film-going experience. I guess your excitement for this news all depends on whether or not you have enjoyed the films that Arad has produced over the years. He has helped develop both great films, and some really, really bad ones. Hopefully, they will be able to bring in the right team of talent to bring the movie to life.

Lionsgate seems to be happy to be in business with the Arads, though. Lionsgate Motion Picture Group Co-Chairs Rob Friedman and Patrick Wachsberger. released the following statement:

“We believe that we’ve brought together the right partners, the ideal creative team and the perfect property to launch a new motion picture tent-pole for a global audience. Part of our strategy in entering the game space under Peter Levin has been to source new brands with built-in audiences that will translate into great films and television shows. The ‘Borderlands’ games don’t pull any punches, and we’ll make the movie with the same in-your-face attitude that has made the series a blockbuster mega-franchise.”

Take-Two Interactive Chairman and CEO Strauss Zelnick added:

“Lionsgate has emerged as a major creative force in the global marketplace with an incredible portfolio of brands; our partners at Gearbox have pioneered and cultivated an iconic property; and Avi and Ari Arad are two of the most successful producers of action franchises. This alliance is ideally positioned to create a bold, provocative, no-holds-barred motion picture phenomenon that will delight Borderlands' current legions of fans and captivate moviegoers around the world.”

Avi and Ari Arad offered their own statement, saying:

“We’re thrilled to extend our partnership with Jon Feltheimer, Michael Burns, Rob, Patrick and the amazing team at Lionsgate and join forces with Take-Two and Gearbox on this incredible property. Borderlands has a unique story-driven narrative energy and rich multidimensional characters that position it to become a singular motion picture event.”

Then Randy Pitchford, President and Co-Founder of Gearbox Software, the developer of the game, said:

“Creating, developing and continuing to build the Borderlands franchise at Gearbox Software has been an incredible ride where the most powerful fuel to our engine has been the astonishing outpouring of love and devotion from the fans. It is the passion of the fans driving the growing success of Borderlands that brought what I believe to be the best team of film producers, marketing and distribution experts in the world together to deliver the exciting story and unique characters of Borderlands to the big screen.”

It will be interesting to see how this project comes together, and if any of our movie dream team choices make it into the film.

New STAR WARS Character Introduced on SHATTERED EMPIRE #2 Cover

The cover for the upcoming Star Wars: Shattered Empire #2 has been released, and it features a new character who is being introduced into the Star Wars Universe. We have no idea who this character is, or how her presence will affect the Star Wars Universe, and StarWars.com doesn't really help us either. All they do is raise more questions!

A picture is worth a thousand words. It’s been said very often. But the one above feels more like a thousand questions. Who is that standing beside the starship that resembles an A-Wing? Is she a Jedi? A friend to the Rebels? It’s a safe bet bounty hunters continued offering their services after the collapse of the Empire.

So maybe she's a bounty hunter? I guess we'll just have to wait and see. The cover of Star Wars: Shattered Empire #2, was created by artist Marco Checchetto. I'm really curious to see if new characters like this will ever find their way into the movies that are being made.

Shattered Empire is a four-issue miniseries takes place shortly after the events of Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, and long before the events of Star Wars Episode VII: The Force AwakensStar Wars: Shattered Empire #1 will be relased on September 9th, and #2 will come out October 7th.

Ronda Rousey Offered $5 Million to Play CAPTAIN MARVEL Role in Porn Film... Ugh

As you know Ronda Rousey has been pushing for a shot to star in Marvel's Captain Marvel film. In a recent report, we've learned that she has been offered to play the superhero character, but unfortunately, it's for a XXX film. The movie is being produced by Axel Braun, and it would be called Captain Marvel XXX: An Axel Braun Parody... ugh. He even offered the MMA fighter $5 million to do it.

First of all, the fact that someone would make such an offer to her like that is insulting. Why in the hell would Ronda Rousey give up everything she's worked so damn hard for to make a porn film?! Is this guy insane?! I'd like to see Rousey kick the living shit of this Axel douche for making the offer.

Why would he think she would jeopardize her chances of making a Marvel film, or making any other film for that matter? This makes me wish that Marvel would offer her the part of Captain Marvel in the feature film adaptation even more, just to prove she is the perfect actress for the role.

I know a lot of people out there watch porn, but as a father of three daughters, it just hard to think that women resort to that. I don't mean to get preachy, but I just think women are better than that, and that they can be more in this world. That's just what I'm trying to teach my own girls.

Matt Damon Offers New Details on BOURNE 5

0
0

I honestly never thought I'd see the day when Matt Damon and Paul Greengrass would team up again to make another Bourne sequel. It's happening, though, and in a recent interview with Buzzfeed, Damon talked about what we can expect to see in the fifth Bourne movie.

It has been eight years since The Bourne Ultimatum was released in theaters, and regarding that, Damon said, “We always looked at those movies as really about the Bush presidency, and so we kind of had to wait for the world to change." Well, the world has definitely changed. So what are they looking to do with the character's story next? Damon explains that it all seemed to click with the events surrounding NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden:

"Without giving too much of it away, it’s Bourne through an austerity-riddled Europe and in a post-Snowden world. It seems like enough has changed, you know? There are all these kinds of arguments about spying and civil liberties and the nature of democracy."

He then went on to reveal where they will be shooting the film, saying:

"We’re starting in Greece, you know, the beginning of democracy. And the movie ends in Las Vegas, the most grotesque incarnation of…”

And he didn't finish his sentence, so let your imagination run wild with what you think he was going to say.

Damon starts production on the film next week, and it will bring back Julia Stiles as Nicky Parsons. The film also stars Tommy Lee Jones as a high-ranking CIA officer and Alicia Vikander  in an undisclosed role. Bourne 5 is set to be released on July 29th, 2016.

Hugh Jackman Awesomely Fulfills the Wish of a Young Fan with Cystic Fibrosis

Here's a feel-good story for the day! Hugh Jackman surprised a young Wolverine fan named Dominic on an Australian radio show on KIIS 1065. This was all made possible due to the efforts of the wonderful individuals at the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Dominic has cystic fibrosis.

Jackman leads Dominic to believe he was on set and was only able to talk with him via phone. But then Jackman pops into the sound room with his Wolverine face on, and Dominic just looks like he is in bliss. The two then proceed to talk about Wolverine. I love seeing stuff like this! Watch how it all plays out in the video below.

Earlier this week, director Quentin Tarantino shared his thoughts on writer and director David Robert Mitchell's horror film It Follows and explained how he would have made it better. I personally thought that Tarantino was right in his assessment when he said, “It’s one of those movies that’s so good you get mad at it for not being great.” If you haven't read Tarantino's full rant about the movie, make sure to click here to check it out.

The director of the horror film has since responded to Tarantino's criticisms on Twitter, saying:

I imagine a lot of fans thought Mitchell was taking a shot at Tarantino. Then earlier this morning he posted this:

I assume this latest tweet is damage control from his first playful tweet that people may not have read as being playful.

The Muppets' Dramatic Reading of Disneyland's THE HAUNTED MANSION Theme Song

Rowlf the Dog from The Muppets performs a dramatic reading of "Grim Grinning Ghosts," which is the theme song from Disneyland's The Haunted Mansion. The video was posted by Muppet Studios, and it also includes a silly ghost in the background that acts out each part described in the song. The Haunted Mansion is one of my favorite rides at Disneyland. I just love that fun, creepy-ass vibe.

Screen Junkies has released a fun video in which host Hal Rudnick shows us a collection of small roles that famous celebrities had in big movies. You might already know about some of these, but this is a great refresher that Bryan Cranston and Nathan Fillion both had roles in Steven Spielberg's Saving Private Ryan and that Elijah Wood played “video game boy” in Back to the Future Part II. There are even more pointed out in the video below, so check it out! I'm sure you'll get a laugh out of some of these.

THE FLASH Gets a Flashy Blue Electrical Charge in New Season 2 Promo

Another new promo has been released for The Flash season two, and it showcases the Scarlet Speedster's electrical lightning speed charge in a blue light. As you'll see, Barry Allen's eyes are shown charging up with blue lightning, and then we see him running as blue lightning follows his path instead of Barry's usual yellow streak. I have no idea what exactly this means, but it must be some kind of newfound power that he gets. Feel free to speculate below on what you think it could mean.

Growing Up Geek - I Almost Starred in PHANTASM IV with Bruce Campbell

0
0

My acting career pretty much came to an end when I landed my first big role in a movie. I was cast in one of the lead roles in the horror film Phantasm IV. Not the Phantasm IV that ended up coming out. The one that was originally being developed before it was cancelled!

That's right, I would have been in a movie with The Tall Man. In preparation for the role, I watched the first couple Phantasm movies, which I thought were great! They were so different and twisted than anything else I had seen up until that point in my life.

I went on several auditions for the role and the producers and director ended up offering me the role! Of course, I accepted! That was so freakin' cool that I was going to to star in a crazy-ass horror movie! I couldn't wait to get started and to start shooting this thing! Needless to say, I was on cloud nine.

Then, all of a sudden, it was gone. To this day, I have no idea what happened, but after they gave me the role, I never heard from anyone on the production again. I assume they couldn't get the money they needed to make it. The movie I would have been in was set in a post-apocalyptic future, I later found out that Bruce Campbell was going to be a co-star. I had no idea who that was at the time, but dammit! What a missed opportunity! I was so close to being in a movie with Bruce Campbell!

On top of that, my agent literally disappeared. Seriously, he just vanished like a fart in the wind, or blow up his nose. My dad always suspected he was into some shady shit and thought he was a big cokehead. It wouldn't surprise me! Hell, a lot of people in Hollywood do shady shit!

We tried to get in contact with him, we tried to find him but came up with nothing. As for the movie, I'm not sure what happened with it, but I imagine it fell apart. When Phantasm IV was eventually made and released it wasn't the same script that I had read. It was a very different film than what I would have been in.

When we couldn't find my agent I just kind of let the whole acting thing fade away. It was around that time where my dad bought our first video camera, and that's where I got more interested in making movies than being in them. I really love the creative aspect of that, and I was always shooting stuff with that thing.

In the few years that I was acting, I had a blast. I learned a lot about life and the entertainment industry. I had some of the best and worst experiences of my life. Sure, sometimes I wonder how things would have gone had I stuck with it, but the decisions I made took my life down another path, and I have no regrets about where that path took me.

Michael B. Jordan in Talks to Star in Vampire Comedy BLOOD BROTHERS

0
0

As Michael B. Jordan recovers from the box-office bomb that was Fantastic Four, he is looking to jump on board another big screen adaptation of a comic book. MGM is developing a film based on the vampire comedy comic Blood Brothers, and according to the Tracking Board, Jordan is in talks to star in it.

The comic comes from writers by Mike Gagerman and Andrew Waller with art by Evan Shaner, it's officially described as follows:

“After a century of friendship, smoking opium with Genghis Khan and having orgies in Michelangelo’s studio, two inseparable vampire buddies are on the verge of splitting up. Terrible timing, as an apocalypse-obsessed villain is plotting an end to humanity. Looks like Nick and Tree, immortal best buds getting by as bail bondsmen, are humanity’s last hope . . . Can they put their baggage aside long enough to save the world?”

The first script for the film was written by Etan Cohen, who is behind movies such as Men in Black 3 and Tropic Thunder. Another draft was done by Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly, who worked on Jurassic World

According to the report, the studio is eager to have a new script completed by a new writer and director, and they hope to have a more grounded take on the series that is in the same vein as Lethal Weapon and 48 Hours.

I've never read the comic, but it sounds like it has the potential to be a solid film. The next film you'll see Jordan in is the Rocky spin-off Creed, which looks incredibly good.

Bucky and Natasha Spend an Evening at Home in This Adorable Art by J.Bone

Looking for something to do tonight? Maybe you should just stay in and watch The Sound of Music. You’ve had a long week. You might even curl up with your girlfriend and fall asleep like twenty minutes in. And if your name is Bucky Barnes, it might just be the most adorable thing that ever happened.

This drawing comes from Eisner nominated cartoonist, comic book artist, and illustrator J.Bone, and I love everything about it. First of all, Bucky Barnes is my favorite anything ever, and he just looks so sweet curled up there on the couch with his one metal arm holding onto his real arm. I love that he and Cap are apparently roomies, that Natasha has a glass of wine by her and Bucky has a mug (hot cocoa, maybe?) and cookies by him, that Black Widow relaxes in yoga capris, that they are watching The Sound of Music… literally everything about this makes me happy. The one question is: when the movie’s over, who carries him up to bed?

Bonus! Here's a detail of Cap staring adoringly at Bucky:

STAR WARS REBELS Season 2 Clip - "Someone You Can Count On"

Another clip from Star Wars Rebels season two has been released by Lucasfilm. In the clip, Ahsoka gives the Ghost crew some easy advice as they set out to find her mysterious ally.

Season two premiered back in June with an hour-long special, and it's set to continue on Wednesday, October 14th. If you're attending New York Comic Con, you'll be lucky enough to watch the first two episodes, which will feature the return of former clone troopers Captain Rex, Captain Gregor, and Commander Wolffe from Star Wars: The Clone Wars. This clip hints at their return.

Ahsoka is leaving the Ghost crew to go on a mission for answers to questions that she has. I think she's going after Darth Vader. From what I've seen of this upcoming season it looks like it's going to be even better than the first.

In Star Wars Rebels Season Two, past lives will be revealed and the destiny of our heroes will be changed forever. The transformative new season resumes with Imperial oppression on Lothal growing stronger and the rebels seeking out new allies and additional resources to sustain their fight against the evil Empire. With the help of Ahsoka Tano, the crew of the Ghost enlists some old friends: ex-clone troopers who fought in the Clone Wars. As the rebels grow in number, so do their enemies. New Inquisitors are dispatched by Darth Vader and sent to crush any threat of rebellion. Through dangerous rescue missions, thrilling space chases, and spectacular lightsaber duels – the bond of our rebel crew will be put to the test like never before.

New episodes of Star Wars Rebels begin Wednesday, October 14th (9:30 p.m., ET/PT) on Disney XD.

Jared Leto Says Goodbye to The Joker by Cutting Off His Green Hair

0

Remember when we got our first glimpse of Jared Leto sporting his green hair as The Joker in Suicide Squad? It was later followed by the controversial official first photo that was released when we saw him all tatted up. That was just the beginning of what looks to be an insane performance by the actor. Fans seemed to be a little bit more on board with his version of the character after the first trailer for the film was released. Since then there’s been a lot of speculation about the true identity of The Joker.

Leto posted a photo earlier this week showing that he is cutting off his permanently dyed green hair, and it came with the simple caption, “Goodbye.” From everything that we’ve heard, the actor really got into his role, and it sounds like he gave a truly unsettling performance. I liked what I saw in the Suicide Squad trailer, and I can’t wait to see more.

Suicide Squad hits theaters on August 5th, 2016.

CBS has released two new, minute-long promo spots for their upcoming series Supergirl. The first one encourages audiences to “Be Super,” and the second one is called “Her Story” and features an anti-feminist villain. He tells Supergirl in the trailer that on his planet, “females bow before males.” She didn’t seem too thrilled with that comment. I also included the plot summary for the first episode below the spots.

Fan-Made Trailer for Tim Burton’s 1998 Film SUPERMAN LIVES

0
0

We’ve been hearing about Tim Burton and Nicholas Cage’s 1998 Superman Lives film project for years. Over that time, we’ve seen a lot of test photos and footage from the development of the film. There was even a documentary made about it.

YouTube user WhiplashDynamo took a lot of the stuff that has been revealed about the film over the years and cut together a trailer for it. It’s done in a 1990s VHS style, and it includes concept art, test footage from the movie, and footage from other films to help make something cool. It may be a bit silly, but that just makes the trailer even better.

The fan trailer was inspired by Jon Schnepp's documentary What Happened?: The Death of Superman Lives, and you can check it out below!
