Marvel's BLADE Movie Will Reportedly Focus on Blade's Daughter

0
0

Is some pretty cool rumor news, Bleeding Cool claims to have an inside source saying that there are future Blade movies on the horizon. We've heard rumors about this for awhile, and yes, if it does happen it's looking like Wesley Snipes will be reprising his iconic role as the Daywalker. However, he may not be the main focus of the upcoming movies. According to the report, the main character is going to be the Blade's daughter, Fallon Grey.

Yes, the project is in limbo and it may not move forward anytime soon, but it is exciting to know that the higher ups of Marvel are interested in bringing this franchise back to the big screen. I love the Blade trilogy. I am stoked to see what a new, modern day take on the Blade story would be like.

For those of you who have not heard of Fallon, here is a little description given by the new Blade comic series writer Tim Seeley:

"Blade’s daughter is 16-year-old Fallon Grey. “She’s a sort of ‘anti-Peter Parker.’ She’s popular, she’s well-liked and it seems like the world is her oyster. But, the expectations that come with being so damn perfect are starting to break her down, and that’s before she learns she’s the heir to a Daywalking-Monster-Stabbing-Empire.

I am excited to see what this character can bring to this franchise. The first Fallon Grey comic will be hitting the shelves this October. They are using the comic as a way to test the waters with this character. The upcoming movies will come when the movie higher ups pull their heads out of their butts and realize that this is something the Marvel Cinematic Universe needs. We will keep you informed.

DARTH PUNK - THE FUNK AWAKENS - Radically Retro Music Video

If you're a fan of Star Wars and/or Daft Punk, you're going to love this radically funky music video called "Darth Punk - The Funk Awakens." It was created by InfectiousDesigner, and it's just a hella fun! I love the retro cool vibe of it. It definitely really brings some sick beats and wicked style to the power of the force! It's also a fun explosion of color and bright lights.

One day Vader and Fett will recruit for the the dark side, disguised as an electronic music duo... they will be arresting ears and administering intergalactic rhythm and beats. The Rebels won't stand a chance. This is their music video, featuring 'Dj Gonk'.

MAN OF STEEL 2 Is On Permanent Hold, But George Miller Is Still Looking to Direct a DC Film

man-of-steel-2-is-on-permanent-hold-but-george-miller-is-still-looking-to-direct-a-dc-film

A few days ago word broke that George Miller might be directing Man of Steel 2. It looks like that may not actually be the case. According to a recent report from Den of Geek, the sequel is on "permanent hold." Does that mean the sequel will be on hold forever? I don't know why the source just doesn't say the movie will never happen, because that's what "permanent hold" means to me.

Well, even if Man of Steel 2 doesn't happen, Miller is still looking to direct another DC film project. Various source have said that Miller is talking with Warner Bros. about one of their comic book projects. According to the report, the film he settles on will ultimately "depend on what story most interests him, his take on it and everyone's availability."

So, one day, it looks like we'll see a DC movie directed by Miller, but we just don't know which one at this point. I'm sure WB will eventually move forward with a Man of Steel sequel. Superman is one of the leading players in the DC universe. The sequel is probably just on hold until the studio can figure out when they want to throw it in the DC movie line-up schedule.

From what I understand WB is already planning on making at least three solo Batman films with Ben Affleck. They've gotta show Superman some love too! I was actually really excited to see what Miller would do with Superman. Regardless of what is being said about the movie being on permanent hold, I hope Miller directing is still an option.

R-Rated THE HOBBIT: THE BATTLE OF THE FIVE ARMIES Extended Edition Confirmed!

Earlier this month there was a rumor that the Extended Edition of Peter Jackson's The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies would be rated R. That R-rating has been confirmed by the release of the specs for the upcoming DVD/Blu-ray.

I honestly didn't really think we would see an R-rated Hobbit movie! It's hard for me to think that this film will be more hardcore than what Jackson gave us with The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Every one of those films were more violent than any that we saw in the Hobbit films.

The fact that The Battle of the Five Armies was slapped with an R-rating baffles me. I'm really curious to see what exactly Jackson added to it to put it over the edge. Maybe it's just a stunt from the studio to get more people to but the DVD/Blu-ray. But then maybe, just maybe, there are some crazy brutal scenes that were cut from the theatrical version to keep it from being rated-R. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Here's the full press release with all of the details of the upcoming Extended Edition. Will you be buying yourself a copy?

9 Things You (Probably) Didn't Know About BACK TO THE FUTURE

Earlier this year I shared a Fun Facts list featuring 25 bits of trivia about Robert Zemeckis' classic film Back to the Future. CineFix has recently released a video featuring nine things from the film that you might not know. There are a few things in it that I had already mentioned in my list, but this video offers even more trivia and insight. It also includes some cool behind-the-scenes footage from the film that I've never seen before, so it's definitely worth watching if you're a fan of the movie!

THE WALKING DEAD Season 6 Clip and Promo Spot - “We Are One/Shadows”

AMC premiered the first episode of Fear the Walking Dead this weekend, and it was not really received well by the fans. But everyone tuned in to watch it! The word “boring” was being thrown around a lot on social media. I was really pumped up about it but was ultimately let down. It’s not because there was a lack of zombies either. The world and the characters were just really hard to connect with, and the story revolving around the main characters just wasn’t that interesting. I’m really hoping that it gets better as the season moves forward. But that first episode didn’t hit for me.

The sixth season of The Walking Dead is coming, though, and I know that’s gonna be good! After the premiere of Fear the Walking Dead, fans of the franchise were treated with a promo spot and clip for the upcoming season.

The spot is called “We Are One,” and it features the main characters emerging from the shadows. Those characters include Rick (Andrew Lincoln), Daryl (Norman Reedus), Maggie (Lauren Cohan), Glenn (Steve Yeun), Carl (Chandler Riggs), Michonne (Danai Gurira), Carol (Melissa McBride), and Morgan (Lennie James). It’s set to a song by the Phantoms called “We Carry On.”

The clip premiered during The Talking Dead, and it centers on Abraham (Michael Cudlitz) and Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green) as they are out on a lovely drive in zombie world. Abraham reveals that he’s concerned about Sasha’s emotional state, and she’s a little uncomfortable talking about it.

The Walking Dead season six will premiere on AMC on October 11th.

New Details on Mads Mikkelsen's Role in STAR WARS: ROGUE ONE

When we learned Mad Mikkelsen (Hannibal, Casino Royal) had joined the cast of Gareth Edwards' Star Wars: Rogue One, a lot of fans assumed he would be taking on a villainous role. That makes sense because he does make a great villain. As it turns out, though, that isn't the case at all.

The actor did an interview with the local newspaper Ekstra Bladet and revealed a few bits of new information about his character. He said that it a very important role to the franchise and that his character is not actually a bad guy. Here's how the Q&A went down (thanks to StarWars7news, who used Google Translate to for the translation):

Q: On IMDB your name is listed just after Felicity Jones. It suggests that it is a great role. Is it a big role?
A: I have not actually noticed that. It is probably because the other might not have come on the list yet [smiles].
Q: But is it a big or a small role?
A: It is a very important role, as much I can say.
Q: Are you the bad guy?
A: No, my character is actually not a bad guy, and then I can not say more.

It was also revealed that the movie will be shot in Iceland and England and that he will spend three months filming his part. In the film, the Rebels set out on a mission to steal the plans for the Death Star.

The movie will be released on December 16th, 2016.

Patrick Stewart Is Open to Reprising His Captain Picard Role

patrick-stewart-is-open-to-reprising-his-captain-picard-role

What is the first thing that you think of when someone says the name Patrick Stewart? My first thought is that this dude is a vampire, he never ages. Normal people think, Captain Jean-Luc Picard from Star Trek: The Next Generation

The 75-year-old (vampire) was talking to IGN about his new series Blunt Talk. In the interview, Stewart was asked whether we would be seeing him play his most iconic character again. This is what he had to say:

"It’s possible. I think it’s unlikely. But it’s possible. The series wrapped over 25 years ago and we’ve got a rather elderly Captain Picard now. So I don’t know. It would be… it could be entertaining."

That doesn’t give a definite yes, but it is nice to know that he is up for reprising his role as Picard. I won’t call it a dead issue, due to the fact that the new timeline caused by the new Star Trek movies means any character can be seen again.

Frankly, I would love to see a new version of TNG. Something like a continuance of TNG where Picard is the Admiral for a new team on a continuing mission to explore strange new worlds. To seek out new life and new civilizations. To boldly go where no one has gone before. Or something like that. I would love to see that series.

New Spoilery CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR Details Confirms What We're Expecting

SPOILER WARNING!

I don't actually consider this news a spoiler because it seemed pretty obvious to me that this was going to happen. But you never know. Maybe there are some people out there who didn't see this coming.

The following intel originates from Heroic Hollywood, and it regards one of the main fight sequences in the film. The battle will focus on Captain Ameria teaming up with Bucky Barnes, a.k.a. The Winter Soldier, to take on Iron Man.

That's right Captain America and Bucky vs. Iron Man. It was inevitable that Bucky would end up remembering Steve Rogers and that he would stand beside him to support his cause. So we are going to see two genetically enhanced super soldiers take on Iron Man, which should turn out to be a pretty epic fight!

With Tony Stark suiting up in his Mark 46 Bleeding Edge armor, he's going to be a force to be reckon with. The suit not only makes Stark stronger than the Hulk, but it also drastically enhances his intelligence, and it can self-heal. At least that's what it does for Stark in the comics.

Regardless of that, this is sure to turn out to be one of the most intense edge-of-your-seat fights in the film. I'm ridiculously excited for this film, especially after the footage I saw at D23. I can only image how epic a fight scene with these three characters will be. How would you like to see this battle play out?

Captain America: Civil War will be released on May 6th, 2016. Make sure to catch up on all of our news regarding the film here.

FANTASTIC FOUR Concept Art Shows Alternate Planet Zero with Doom's Castle

Concept artist Steve Jung released a few pieces of concept art that he made for Josh Trank's terrible Fantastic Four film. They feature a very different-looking Planet Zero and also show off the castle of Doctor Doom. This art was created in 2013, and it looks like things were headed in a very different direction than what we ended up with. Planet Zero actually looks kinda interesting.

Here's a note from the artist regarding the art:

"I was on this one early on before all the drama happened… none of my work made it to the movie (kinda glad) since it got changed many times after I left the project. Exploration of the Planet Zero and Victor’s castle ideations. Btw the texture of the terrain is cigarette buds from a picture of the director’s ashtray."

He also commented on the castle saying:

"The castle is made out of particles so in some places you can see through and Victor is holding everything together in his mind…"

Check out the art below, and let us know what you think about Jung's version of Planet Zero.

Another STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON Star Joins KONG: SKULL ISLAND

Straight Outta Compton star Jason Mitchell, who got his big break playing rapper Eazy-E in the film, is in negotiations to join Legendary’s upcoming project Kong: Skull Island.

If he's cast, he will reunite his Straight Outta Compton co-star Corey Hawkins, who played Dr. Dre. They join an already impressive cast that includes Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, and Toby Kebbell

The story follows a crew of explorers as they travel to the mysterious Skull Island, which is the home of several creatures, including dinosaurs. It is, of course, also the home of Kong, the king of the apes.

According to THR, Mitchell will take on the role of a character who is described as an easygoing pilot. Mitchell is a talented young actor who I'm sure will be great in this new role.

The highly anticipated movie is set to be directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts from a script written by Derek Connolly. The movie is set to go into production in Hawaii in late October to be released on March 10th, 2017.

Star Wars fans have been anticipating Force Friday (Friday, September 4th) for a long time, because we thought that was going to be the day a huge batch of new toys would be revealed for J.J. Abrams' upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens. For fans desperate for every tiny sliver of information about the movie, these toys could provide a lot of clues about what we can expect to see when the film drops in December.

But according to a press release from Disney, we won't have to wait until Force Friday to get a look at those new products. One of Disney's digital content companies, Maker Studios, will be hosting a first-of-its-kind 18-hour unboxing event on September 3rd that encompasses 15 cities in twelve different countries, with a different personality unboxing a different toy and broadcasting the experience live on the Star Wars YouTube channel for all to see.

You can find the full schedule at StarWars.com, and they've released a cool preview video you can watch below.

See CHAPPIE Come to Life in New Visual Effects Reel

Sharlto Copley's work as the title character in Neill Blomkamp's Chappie was one of the best parts of an otherwise-disappointing movie, but no one can deny that Blomkamp is doing interesting things with visual effects. Case in point, this new VFX breakdown video from Imagine Engine, the company responsible for transforming Copley's on-set performance into the work of a robotic entity. When I watched Chappie, I knew that Copley was providing the movement for the character, but it wasn't until I watched this video that I saw exactly how much of the character's personality came from Copley himself and not from digital wizardry.

It's a shame this movie wasn't better in the end, because there are definitely some cool elements to it. Check out the full visual effects reel below:

Quentin Tarantino Explains How He Would Have Made IT FOLLOWS a Better Film

0
0

It Follows was one of this year's most buzzed-about horror films. Since I saw the film at Sundance, I've been saying that I loved the concept of the film, but that the execution of it didn't work for me. The first 30 minutes of the film were wonderful and creepy, but after that it completely fell apart with all kinds of ridiculousness. It should have been a great horror film, but instead it turned out to be mediocre.

During an interview with Vulture, director Quentin Tarantino talked about the film and said "it was the best premise I’ve seen in a horror film in a long, long, long time.” But he didn't think that it reached its full potential either, and he explains how he would have made the film better:

"He [writer-director David Robert Mitchell] could have kept his mythology straight. He broke his mythology left, right, and center. We see how the bad guys are: They’re never casual. They’re never just hanging around. They’ve always got that one look, and they always just progressively move toward you. Yet in the movie theater, the guy thinks he sees the woman in the yellow dress, and the girl goes, 'What woman?' Then he realizes that it’s the follower. So he doesn’t realize it’s the follower upon just looking at her? She’s just standing in the doorway of the theater, smiling at him, and he doesn’t immediately notice her? You would think that he, of anybody, would know how to spot those things as soon as possible. We spotted them among the extras.
"The movie keeps on doing things like that, not holding on to the rules that it sets up. Like, okay, you can shoot the bad guys in the head, but that just works for ten seconds? Well, that doesn’t make any fucking sense. What’s up with that? And then, all of a sudden, the things are aggressive and they’re picking up appliances and throwing them at people? Now they’re strategizing? That’s never been part of it before. I don’t buy that the thing is getting clever when they lower him into the pool. They’re not clever."

He completely hits the film's issues of not sticking with the mythology on the nose. Maybe Mitchell wasn't interested in paying attention to those details, or maybe he just wanted to ignore them to just make a creepy film, which obviously seemed to work for some people. The thing is, it probably would have been a hell of a lot better and scarier had he stuck to the mythology like Tarantino suggests. He goes on to say that he also has an issue with Jay refusing to have sex with Paul. He says:

"Also, there’s the gorgeously handsome geeky boy — and everyone’s supposed to be ignoring that he’s gorgeous, because that’s what you do in movies — that kid obviously has no problem having sex with her and putting the thing on his trail. He’s completely down with that idea. So wouldn’t it have been a good idea for her to fuck that guy before she went into the pool, so then at least two people could see the thing? It’s not like she’d have been tricking him into it. It’s what I would’ve done."

Well, that's what Tarantino would have done to make It Follows a better film. For me, it definitely would have been a better version, and it's interesting to see what his take on it would have been like. That being said, I would love to see Tarantino direct a horror film one day. He wrote the screenplay for From Dusk Till Dawn, but I'd like to see him do something batshit insane with the horror genre.

What are your thoughts on how Tarantino would have made It Follows better?
