Check out this new Linkin Park music video / trailer for Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. The video includes a ton of new footage from the action-packed vampire slaying adventure.

The movie comes out this weekend on June 22nd, and it's sure to deliver the entertainment. I just hope our kids don't grow up now thinking that Lincoln was a vampire hunter in real life, because I can see that actually happening in our society. What do you think of this new music trailer?

The Timur Bekmambetov-directed movie stars Benjamin Walker, Dominic Cooper, Anthony Mackie, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Jimmi Simpson, Robin McLeavy, Alan Tudyk and Rufus Sewell.

Here's the sysnopsis:

The film explores the secret life of our greatest president, and the untold history that shaped our nation. As a young boy, Abraham Lincoln (Benjamin Walker) witnesses the shocking death of his mother, leading him on a path to an ongoing war – and ultimately to the presidency – he chronicles in a hidden diary. The journal reveals the incredible story of a clandestine warrior who never stopped fighting for the country he led and the people he loved.

Here's another series of promo poster art for The Dark Knight Rises, showing off more images of Bane, Batman, and Catwoman. The Christopher Nolan directed movie is about a month away from being released, and the anticipation is killing me! It hits theaters on July 20th, and it will be interesting to see just how much more footage Warner Bros. releases in film clips and trailers before it's actually released. Hopefully they just hold off from here on out, but we all know they won't.

New NINJA TURTLES Movie to have Same Fighting Style as THE RAID

According to a recent interview between TheOneRing.net, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles co-creator Kevin Eastman, the new Ninja Turtle film will include the same style of Indonesian martial arts fighting style that was used in Gareth Evans‘ film The Raid. If they could effectively pull this off it could be extremely badass. If you've seen The Raid then you know how fast, furious and bone-breakingly brutal this style of fighting can be.

I'd love to see the Ninja Turtles brutally kicking ass like we've never seen them do before, it'd be amazing. I've been very skeptical of this movie since Michael Bay said that the Turtles would be alien, but the awesomeness of this fighting style sparks my interest. What do you think about this kind of martial arts being used in the movie?

The movie is set to be directed by Jonathan Liebesman (Wrath of the Titans) from a script by Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec. Production of the film was recently shut down, but apparently it will go back into production and released in May of 2014.

Here's a time breakdown of where in the video you can listen to what.

  • 21:55 - What inspired TMNT

  • 30:00 - Star Wars influence on the backstory

  • 47:25 - Discusses Nickelodeon's new animated show

  • 51:15 - Describes his involvement with Michael Bay's Ninja Turtles

  • 52:15 - Comments on fan's negative reaction to Bay's Alien race remarks, and defends Michael Bay as a filmmaker

  • 1:01:30 - April O'Neil will NOT be a sixteen year old in Bay's Ninja Turtles

  • 1:05:00 - The original live-action film bridged the gap of the black and white comic books and the cartoon show

  • 1:07:55 - Kevin Eastman thinks Ken Watanabe would make a great Shredder

  • 1:08:25 - He'd like to bring Ernie Reyes, Jr. (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II) back for Bay's Ninja Turles as a Foot lieutenant.

  • 1:31:00 - Possibility of motion capture Turtles like Rise of the Planet of the Apes

  • 1:32:55 - Martial arts wise they are looking at Fist of Legend & The Raid: Redemption

Alan Moore Sets Harry Potter as The Antichrist In New Comic

$

In a move seemingly designed to rattle some cages at Warner Bros., renowned comic book author Alan Moore has reportedly set a Harry Potter lookalike as the Antichrist in his new comic, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen: Century 2009.

Deadline points us to an early review of Moore's upcoming graphic novel from British outlet The Independent, who has some interesting things to say about Moore's take on the world's most popular young wizard:

Though the words "Harry Potter" are never mentioned, the allusions are unmistakable. One section features a magical train hidden between platforms at King's Cross station which leads to a magical school. The Antichrist character has a hidden scar and a mentor named Riddle. (Lord Voldemort, born Tom Riddle, is Harry Potter's arch enemy in the Potter series.) Characters resembling both Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger also appear and, at one point, the Potter character kills someone with a lightning bolt from his flaccid penis.

Uh...excuse me? It seems pretty obvious that Moore is using Potter as a character, especially considering his use of other popular literary figures in the series. (The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen is full of them, in fact.) I'm sure a lot of people are going to get really pissed off about this, but Harry Potter is a full-blown cultural phenomenon and that means he's able to be used as parody. That's obviously Moore's intention: he could care less about the REAL Harry Potter, and he's not trying to create content that fits within J.K. Rowling's canon.

This entire thing strikes me as extremely ironic, considering the timing. Lately, Moore has been spewing vitriol at the new "Before Watchmen" graphic novels that takes his beloved characters and fill in backstories he only alluded to in his iconic story, and now he's doing a similar thing by taking a character that doesn't belong to him and using him to his own ends. Perhaps taking this beloved character and drastically altering him is Moore's way of dealing with the whole "Before Watchmen" thing, but either way, I consider what he's doing to be totally fine and within the law. We'll see if WB's lawyers agree, or if they take action to protect the Potter name.

What do you think about Moore's tactic? Is using Harry Potter fair play? Or is he being a hypocrite?

Ed Helms Joins Rudd and Poehler in THEY CAME TOGETHER

Ed Helms will join the comedy They Came Together from writer/director David Wain (Role Models). He will star opposite Paul Rudd and Amy Poehler in the twisted romantic comedy about a a small business owner (Poehler) being crushed by a larger concern. Helms will take on the role of Eggbert, Poehler’s love interest and accountant in the film. They Came Together was written by Wain and comdeian Michael Showalter for Lionsgate. Filming is slated for July.
Helms will continue to keep busy before returning for another season of The Office, having signed on for a cameo appearance in the Rawson Thurber-directed comedy We’re The Millers, starring Jennifer Aniston and Jason Sudeikis. Helms will play Brad, Sudekis’ boss who may be hiding something nefarious and shady.
The new season of The Office begins shooting on July 30th. He’ll then shoot the third and final installment of The Hangover franchise on September 16. It's not everyday you can say you're excited for every project an actor has lined up, but I can say that for Helms. All of these comedies sound solid. Even though I absolutely felt cheated after watching The Hangover 2 (it was a carbon copy of the first, and kind of ruined the originality of the first by rehashing so many of the same jokes), I'm trusting them when they say that they are going to change things up a bit for the third film. The story will be set in the characters' Los Angeles hometown, and will not focus on the forgotten-debauchery formula of the first movies.
What do you think of the projects Ed Helms has lined up?

Geek Art: BACK TO THE FUTURE "Batter Up" Hoverboard Scene

While searching for another image I came across this piece by George Bletsis that depicts one of my favorite scenes from the Back To The Future films. I'm still waiting for the hoverboard to become a reality. I can't help but feel gypped everytime I watch those films. That hovering display hoverboard we posted a few months back is the closest we've gotten so far.

Not only is this piece of art totally awesome, but you can buy it! And (yes, there's an and), all the profits will go to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinsons ResearchClick here to purchase.

DREDD Trailer Hits Thursday and New Photos from the Set

This coming Thursday we'll get to see our first real footage from director Pete Travis' version of Judge Dredd. I think we're going to be in for a real treat. I like what I've seen in the images, and I like that the creator of the comic loved what he saw in this movie. One thing is certain... it's going to be a hell of a lot better than Sylvester Stallone's 1995 version. I can't wait to see the trailer for this flick!

There's also a few photos from the set of the film that have been released today featuring Karl Urban as Dredd and Olivia Thirlby as Judge Anderson. Not sure why people were complaining about the the big helmet head, Dredd's helmet looks fine in these pictures. Check them out!

Do you think this movie is going to turn out being better than you're expecting?

Here's the synopsis:

DREDD takes us to the wild streets of Mega City One, the lone oasis of quasi-civilization on Cursed Earth. Judge Dredd (Karl Urban) is the most feared of elite Street Judges, with the power to enforce the law, sentence offenders and execute them on the spot – if necessary. The endlessly inventive mind of writer Alex Garland and the frenetic vision of director Peter Travis bring DREDD to life as a futuristic neo-noir action film that returns the celebrated character to the dark, visceral incarnation from John Wagner and Carlos Ezquerra’s revered comic strip.

TWILIGHT Franchise Won't Be Rebooted... Yet

$

I always joke around that this next Twilight movie Breaking Dawn Part 2 would be the last movie until Lionsgate decides to reboot the franchise. Apparently there are sites reporting that the studio is already planning on doing just that. Lionsgate/Summit executive Rob Friedman reached out to Deadline to set the record straight, saying,

We are not remaking Twilight. We will happily support Stephanie Meyer if she decides to proceed in any way. But this will be the last one unless that should change.

I love how he says this will be the last one... unless that should change. I don't know about you, but that basically tells me that they are definitely leaving the door open for a reboot. The site says that the studio will do whatever the Twilight author wants, and she's already said in a few interviews that she wouldn't mind seeing a reboot. And of course if Meyer writes any more books, we can expect those to be turned into movies as well.

As of right now though, there are no plans being made for a reboot, but it will most likely eventually happen. This is the studio's biggest franchise, and rebooting it would only make them even more money. So we have that not to look forward too.

THE MASTER Gets a 2nd Teaser Trailer - Hopelessly Inquisitive

Director Paul Thomas Anderson has released a second teaser trailer for his new film The Master. This latest teaser gives us a glimpse at the relationship of the two main characters in the movie, played by Philip Seymour Hoffman and Joaquin Phoenix. As you'll see, Hoffman's character is trying to save Phoenix's character from himself.

I enjoy the films that Anderson makes. They aren't for everyone, but damn, they are well made films with great characters and interesting stories.

The film follows a character named Lancaster Dodd, "The Master," played by Philip Seymour Hoffman, a charismatic leader who creates a new religion in the 1950s and his main disciple (Phoenix), an alcoholic drifter named Freddie Sutton who becomes Dodd's closest follower only to later break away from his teachings. It's supposed to be based on the religion of Scientology.

Watch the new teaser, and hit us up with any thoughts on the film you might have!

MONSTERS Sequel Gets Title and New Director

Gareth Edwards' Monsters looks to be closer to getting a sequel. Earlier we reported that Brent Bonacorso and Jesse Atlas were to make their feature film directorial debut. Screen Daily reports that up-and-coming director Tom Green is now set to helm the sequel officially titled Monsters: The Dark Continent

At this time we don't have an official production start date. While I am anxious to see a sequel, I am happy that Vertigo Films is not rushing out a sequel just to make a quick buck. Green gained a lot of attention with his student film Brixton 85 and has since directed the British superhero drama Misfits. Thi will be his first feature film directing gig.

If you have not seen the original film, be sure to check it out on Netflix. I loved the look and feel of the film, and the fact Edwards did not make a big thing of showing the aliens in every scene. Are you looking forward to seeing this sequel?

Finally a trailer has been released for the awesome horror anthology movie V/H/S , and lucky for us it's a creepy-ass Red-Band trailer! I got to see this movie up at Sundance earlier this year, and as a fan of horror movies I thought it was great! This is one of those films I'll make a tradition of watching every Halloween.

The movie follows "a group of misfits hired to burglarize a house to find a rare VHS tape, only to find more found footage than they wanted to see." There are five VHS tapes that we are shown throughout the course of the film. Each movie comes from a different director that includes Adam Wingard (You're Next), Glenn McQuaid (I Sell the Dead), David Bruckner (The Signal), Joe Swanberg (Autoerotic), and Ti West (The House of the Devil).

You can read more details on each of the short films in my review Right here.  Magnet will release the movie on August 31st, 2012 for VOD and October 5th for theaters. Watch the trailer below and let us know if you think it looks like a good horror flick!

A BREAKING BAD Movie Could Happen!

$
0
0

The upcoming fifth and final season of Breaking Bad will consist of 16 episodes. After that the series will end, but it doesn't mean the story will be over. The show's star, Bryan Cranston, feels that the story could continue in the form of a major motion picture. This is kind of funny because at one point the show's creator Vince Gilligan didn't think he could take the story through 16 more episodes, now Cranston says laughing,

Vince feels that now we have too much story. We could actually go beyond those 16 episodes.

The actor then goes on to talk about the possibly of a movie, and the future of his character,

It’s not far-fetched, I wouldn’t mind visiting that possibility. And this is coming from a guy who doesn’t know anything of how the show’s going to end. If it doesn’t end up in a total apocalypse, who knows? Maybe we could revisit Walter White a year down the road and see where his life has gone. If he’s still alive, that is.

I'll admit, it's hard to see Walt coming out of this alive, but if he does, it would be great to see his story continue. Gilligan goes on to discuss the character of Walt in the upcoming season saying,

We can look forward to Walt’s ego growing by leaps and bounds for having killed Gus Fring. To this point, Walt’s been able to lie to himself and reason that he’s done all these terrible things for his family. But that’s a lie that’s harder and harder to maintain as this upcoming season progresses and the money piles up and he’s faced more and more with the badness that he’s done.

He’s going to be a harder guy to root for, I promise you that. The experiment of the show has been to take a good guy and have him transform himself into a bad guy. And we’re committed to seeing that through to the very end.

Wow! That sounds incredibly intense. At this point I can see how it's going to be harder to root for Walt, especially after what he's done to Jesse to get what he wants. At this point I'm rooting more for Jesse to survive Walt's decent into terrifying madness.

I guess we'll have to wait until the series ends before we see if we'll get a movie or not. Would you like to see a movie get made?
