MRS. DOUBTFIRE As a Horror Film

0

A great new trailer has been cut for Robin William's 1993 comedy Mrs. Doubtfire.... as a horror film, and it turned out to be hilariously awesome!

An unemployed actor undergoes a drastic transformation in a twisted attempt to regain the trust of his estranged family.

The trailer was cut by Peter Javidpour. After watching this, I realized just how creepy this movie actually is, even without the horror stuff. Enjoy!

Abbie Cornish Offered Lead Female Role in ROBOCOP

Sucker Punch actress Abbie Cornish may just end up taking on the lead female role in Jose Padilha's Robocop reboot. According to Deadline, she has been offered the role. As of right now there's no word if she's taken it or not, but I don't see why she wouldn't.

She would play the the wife of Joel Kinnaman's (The Killing) character in the story, which follows a police officer who is gunned down and almost killed. He is then turned into a badass robot crime-fighter, who eventually ends up starting to remember his old life as a full human.

Sucker Punch is the only film I've seen Cornish in, and she was fine in it, it was the script for that film that sucked ass.

Bizarrely Cool Collection of Movie Poster Art from Ghana

Here's a bizarrely cool collection of hand painted movie posters for films created in Ghana West Africa. These are real movie poster designs that were used to promote the films in villages around that region of the world. Here's the story behind the posters:

With the arrival of video and video cassettes during 1980s In Ghana (West Africa) a small-scale film distribution mobile Cinema was created. This small size mobile ” Cinema” operators were equipped with a television a video and some times with a small portable generator and were moving from town to town from village to village operating and showing their films! (During the day inside social clubs or houses and during the night in the open air). In order to attract more customers and in order to advertise their mission and business the need of huge posters was created and born! Talented artists after viewing the film were creating large size posters using oil paint on canvas! The artist had the freedom to add or change scenes seen or not seen in the film in order to make the poster more attractive! (This is the reason that this hand painted posters are more interesting as ART than the normal posters since each of this hand painted poster is UNIQUE! and except the film content it also express the artist him self!).

Check out the posters and tell us what your favorites are.

Watch This: Animated Stories from MOONRISE KINGDOM

I haven't had a chance to see Wes Anderson's newest film Moonrise Kingdom yet, but I've heard nothing but good things about it so far. It's playing in limited release right now, and slowly expanding to wider audiences, so check your local listings and see if it's heading to a theater near you. In the meantime, Entertainment Weekly (via Firstshowing) has some cool little animated stories that were originally intended to go in the movie, but ultimately ended up being a nice piece of bonus content that we can all enjoy.

Moonrise Kingdom tells the story of two young lovers, and the girl, Suzy (played by Kara Hayward), steals a bunch of books from the library before she leaves to go on her adventure with her new boyfriend, Sam (Jared Gilman). The clips in this video are from those books, and they're introduced by the film's narrator, Bob Balaban. Check it out:

Looks very similar to the work that Joseph Gordon-Levitt is doing at hitRECord.org, collaborating with people all over the world to bring unique projects to life. These animations were done in the same way, with illustrators in Paris, Los Angeles, and Sweden working together to make these stories all look and feel different from one another.

If you've already seen it, let us know what you thought about Moonrise Kingdom in the comments. For those who haven't seen the movie yet, which of these animated stories is your favorite? (I'm partial to the one with the bullet, myself.)

Awesome STAR WARS Themed Home Theater

I've always wanted a cool home theater, but unfortunately due to lack of funds it's not going to happen anytime soon. But that's ok, life goes on, and other people are fortunate enough to make their geek dreams a reality, like the person that built this Star Wars themed home theater awesomeness!

This Star Wars inspired theater rivals the LucasArts Ranch in regards to authentic Star Wars memorabilia. This Grand Imperial theater is owned by a couple passionate Star Wars fans just outside of Seattle. Designed to appear like the command deck of the Death Star from The Empire Strikes Back, you will find a variety of life sized Star Wars characters in the theater including C-3PO, Boba Fett and Han Solo frozen in carbonite. The entrance to the theater is covered in poster cases from the three original Star Wars movies as well as a poster for The Phantom Menace and the Clone Wars animated series.

The theater is equipped with three rows of seating (Cinematech Valentino Chairs) and stretches back a bit over 20 feet from the screen to the rear wall. The crystal clear image is sent to the screen by a Runco VX5C 3-Chip DLP Projector and surround sound bounces off the Death Star walls with a series of Meridian speakers. You will also find a Pioneer Laserdisc Player, Meridian 800 DVD Player, Meridian 861 Preamp, Crestron Theater Remote and a Monster HTS3600 Power Center equipped in the theater. (See the second to last slide for the entire equipment list).

Check out the photos of the home theater below, and let us know if you like it!

BEASTS OF THE SOUTHERN WILD - Film Clip and Featurette

Fox Searchlight pictures has released a new film clip and behind the scenes featurette for the Sundance film Festival hit, Beasts of the Southern Wild. I'm one of the few people that didn't buy into the hype of this movie. Sure it was a good film, beautifully shot and well acted, but I just didn't connect with the story. I actually kind of felt it was all over the place. It's a very artsy indie film with cool visuals and an interesting setting. You can read our full review of the film here, and watch our video review of it here

Here's the Synopsis:

In a forgotten but defiant bayou community cut off from the rest of the world by a sprawling levee, a six-year-old girl exists on the brink of orphanhood. Buoyed by her childish optimism and extraordinary imagination, she believes that the natural world is in balance with the universe until a fierce storm changes her reality. Desperate to repair the structure of her world in order to save her ailing father and sinking home, this tiny hero must learn to survive unstoppable catastrophes of epic proportions.

The movie will be released later this month on June 27th, 2012. Watch the clip and featurette and let us know if you think you'll be.

Chuck'Zachary Levi may be joining the cast of Thor 2THR reports that Marvel Studios is considering the actor for the role of Fandral, which was was played by Josh Dallas in the film. Dallas has had to drop out of the sequel because he will be starring in the ABC show Once Upon a Time.

Levi was originally slated to play the role in 2010, but dropped out after Chuck received an episode extension. The current talks are still in the early stages, but an offer for the role is likely. Production will get started this July, with Game of Thrones director Alan Taylor at the helm. Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Idris Elba, and Anthony Hopkins are returning, and Mads Mikkelsen (The Three Musketeers, Valhalla Rising) is in negotiations to play the villain.

I never got into Chuck, but am very interested in seeing Thor 2. Do you think that Levi will make a good Fandral?

Here is your first look at the upcoming DreamWorks Animation movie, Mr. Peabody and Sherman, thanks to License! Global. Modern Family's Ty Burrell and Max Charles (The Amazing Spider-Man, The Three Stooges) lend their voices to the film.

Here is a description of the film:

Based on Jay Ward's classic cartoon, Mr. Peabody is the world's smartest person who happens to be a dog. When his "pet" boy Sherman uses their time traveling WABAC machine without permission, events in history spiral out of control to disastrous and comical results. It's up to this most unexpected of father-son teams to somehow put things back on track before the space-time continuum is irreparably destroyed.

The movie is scheduled for release on March 14, 2014.

TEMPLE OF HEAVEN Moving Forward At Warner Bros.

Warner Bros. is turning Temple of Heaven into a movie. Deadline reports that the studio bought the action adventure project created by former Disney exec's Jason Reed and Michael Andreen. Chad St. John (Motor City) has been hired to help craft the idea and will likely pen the script.

Temple of Heaven uses Chinese mythology as the backdrop for an action adventure. WB has not said too much more about the project. St. John also penned the script for the movie adaptation of Spy Hunter. I will be a bit more interested in this project when we have some more information and a director attached.

What do you think of Temple of Heaven?

Here is a a must watch video called LEGO Inception. Christopher Nolan's amazing film looks even cooler in LEGO form (but then again most movies do).

Here is a discription:

An academic team project, spanning 12 weeks, representing approx 1000 hours work.

All content originated by BA(Hons) VFX : Visual Effects + Concept Design students, Pedrom DADGOSTAR, Hollie PRICE, Jack MILTON, Simon STIRRUP, Sam SERRIDGE, Jack BOSWORTH and Sidney THIBAULT.

A great project people, especially given the challenges the film posed. Fantastic team work, great technical solutions and professional approach throughout.

For those of you who have never been to the epic video game expo E3, here's a series of videos I took while walking through certain areas of the floor at the 2012 event. This gives you an inside look at how awesomely insane E3 is. This is one of my favorite conventions to attend, and there was a ton of great stuff this year, and I got to see and play a ton of great games coming out in the near future!

These ten short videos take you through various areas of the expo floor including the gaming areas of XBox, Playstation, Ubisoft, EA GAmes, Nintendo, Activision, several other game developers, and other cool stuff. As you will see they go all out on their brands, and they have much more elaborate set-ups than what you would see at Comic-Con.

I hope you enjoy these video walkthroughs!

Creepy Test Footage from Ridley Scott's ALIEN

0

Here's some creepy test footage from Ridley Scott's Alien featuring Bolaji Badejo who played the Alien in classically badass 1979 sci-fi horror masterpiece. In the footage you see the actor practicing his alien movement skills without the full costume. All he's wearing is a pair of shorts and a prop Alien head. It's still creepy even without the costume though!

Here's what Badejo had to say about the costume he wore in the film in 1979 in an interview with Cinefantastique magazine,

[The special-effects helmet] was all manual, remote controlled [...] There's still a space in it for my head. I had it on just to make sure nothing goes wrong with the posture of the head or how tall it is in comparison to the other sequences. They must have had about 2000 tubes of K-Y Jelly [...] just to get the effect of that slime coming out of his mouth. A lot of it was spread around on the face. I could barely see what was going on around me, except when I was in a stationary position, while they were filming. Then there were a few holes I could look through.

Check out the Alien test footage below. We don't make movies like this anymore.

Hyundai's Zombie Survival Car For Comic Con Revealed

0

The first pictures of Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman's zombie survival vehicle have been released! The car is said to draw from Kirkman's decade of experience in zombies and supposedly optimal for defeating the undead. So why is it I feel there are some problems with the creation? Considering things we've seen thus far in AMC's The Walking Dead it seems Kirkman wasn't thinking this one entirely through so let me help him out.

  • The spikes on the bulldozer got to go. Bad ass as they may be, they'll gather quite a bit of bodies that will only block your view and eventually be forced to clean off, and chances are most of them will still be animated when doing so.
  • Spikes on the wheels? C'mon man. Most the roads we see in TWD are littered with cars. What seems like a cool idea for cutting legs going 80 down the interstate is frankly a pipedream that the universe you yourself created won't allow.
  • Two doors is a problem. There are very little instances in the show where we see two characters flying solo, and if we do, they usually pick someone up along the way. When the zombies come barreling down you don't want to be messing with pulling the seat up so that the unknown stranger you pick up can make their way to the back.
  • Assuming you last longer than a couple months in that car, how are you going to change the headlights? Let's not forget the battery draining and ultimately unneccessary spotlights on the top of the vehicle. Lose your battery in the middle of an attack and all you have is a well secured coffin.

That aside it does look pretty cool, and while a Hyundai may not provide the same amount of protection as say, a flat bed semi. I guess I can wait until the finished version premieres before I can judge it any further.

WANTED 2 will be "Shocking" and Have a "Great Twist"

0
0

It looks like Wanted director Timur Bekmambetov has finally cracked the story he wants to tell for Wanted 2. He doesn't give away any story details but he does say that it will be shocking, and that it has a great twist. Here's what he said in an interview with The Playlist,

An unbelievable thing happened three weeks ago. Because we stopped, we didn't know what to do for three or four years. Three weeks ago I came up with a great idea and I pitched this idea and everybody fell in love with it. And now I think we're on track. Right now the writer is working on the script, and it will be shocking.

He then goes on to reveal that the people who died in the first film won't be back for the sequel. I assume that means Angelina Jolie's character as well.

It's a continuation of the story, with Wesley Gibson. Other people are dead, you know, we can't bring them back. The story is the same character, same mythology, but it's got a great twist.

I assume at this point they will completely stray away from the comic book source, and build their own story. I thought the first film was great, and I'm excited to see the story continue. Where would you like to see the story go from where it left off?
